2nd MAY UPRISING

In 1808, in France, Manuel Godoy and Mariscal Murat met to sign the treaty of Fontainebleau.

This brought the chaos to Spain…

If you sign here, our army will go through Spain to invade Portugal.

While the french army was arriving to Spain, Spanish people realized they were the ones getting invaded

Madrid people and French soldiers fighted for hours

Madrid fought with all they have, but it
wasn´t enough

French army had more soldiers and more weapons, so they easily won the batlle

And in the third of may 1808 French soldiers executed all of the survivors.

Even thought Madrid lost the batlle, the uprising of the secon of May encouraged the rest of Spain to rise too

This supossed the begining of the Spanish independence war wich ended with the Spanish victory in 1814
