Fall Ya’ll is one of the fun events here at Ogden Elementary   School. Every year, in the beginning of fall, we have “It’s Fall Y'all”
as an event to celebrate the coming of fall. Kids have tons of fun
In Fall Y'all! Families and friends of Ogden students are always welcome to come. In Fall Y'all there are donut eating contests,    mummy wrap contests, food, cotton candy, pony rides, apple cider
donuts, a petting zoo, and even go cart rides! “My favorite activity was probably the mummy wraps, I also loved the DJ!” vice president, Abby Fraser says.  My personal favorite activities at Fall Y’all are: The donut eating and Mummy Wrap Contests :) .  In donut eating contests, everybody gets one donut and whoever finishes it first wins. The donut eating contest is not timed, but don’t take your time if you want to win! The mummy wrap contest is not wrapping actual mummies. There are groups of two in mummy wraps. In each group, there should be a person that is being wrapped with toilet paper, and a person that is wrapping their partner. The best wrapped mummy wins, but trust me it’s harder than it looks. The toilet paper rips if you wrap too fast, and you have to redo everything! My advice is just to wrap your partner very slowly, and start at the feet going all the way up to the head. This contest is timed, you have about 2-3 minutes to wrap. If you win any of the contests in Fall Y’all you get to choose a prize from the prize box!

In order to come to Fall Y’all and have a great time , first you
need to purchase tickets online. You can also buy tickets when you come to Fall Y’all. Each activity is one ticket, but the tickets only come in bundles so it's easier. The food options are a burger, pizza, or hotdog. They each have a different colored ticket, so when you come to the food stand just give the employee your ticket. You get to choose what food you would like when you first come to Fall Y’all.  “My favorite thing about Fall Y’all is the mummy wraps contest, and also spending time with friends.”, 5th grader Berin Dilek says. It seems many people enjoy mummy wraps. Definitely try the mummy wraps contest if you ever come to Fall Y'all! Fall Yall is an amazing activity, and all are more than welcome to come when it happens!
Fifth Grade Car Wash
          Fifth Grade Car Wash
Do you like to clean cars? Even if you don't like to clean them, everyone wants their car to be clean. I like to clean cars and I got to do just that at the Fifth Grade Car Wash. The Fifth Grade Car Wash is a fun event where people come to get their cars washed and all of the money goes to the P.T.A and to our school funds and field trips. It is such a fun day and at the end of the car wash we take class photos and sometimes there are leftover snacks that we get to eat. We get a little bit wet and we also get soapy. It is so fun I recommend enjoying  the first hour and then talking and chit chatting with your friends. During the car wash each class is divided into groups.
The first group is called the wetters, the second group is called the washers, and the third group is called the dryers. Everyone got to do every job. The fifth grade car wash was the best day of my life and everyone who is not in fifth grade should be prepared to clean cars, get dirty, wet, tired, and have lots of fun.

Ogden's Pumpkin Patch!
by Giuliana Esposito
Comic Panel 1
One exciting thing at Ogden is our Pumpkin Patch. Let's jump right into it!
Every year at Ogden we have our annual Pumpkin Patch in October. Three great things about the Pumpkin Patch are; You can take pictures, get a pumpkin of course, and you can also get a pen, pencil,or eraser!
My personal favorite part is taking pictures I think it’s really fun because
You can take a class picture or even take pictures with your friends. The pens, pencils, and erasers all come different like the pen or pencil can be black and the eraser can be  a ghost,or the pen, pencil can be orange and the eraser can be a pumpkin. And the main thing is getting a pumpkin of course. This is one of the reasons why we are so lucky to have a school like Ogden!
In the mornings the PTA sets up all the pumpkins.  The pumpkins come in all different shapes and sizes. The classes all have their own time to go to the Pumpkin Patch. You better get there on time. I know I wouldn't want to be the last one to get a pumpkin.
But pumpkins are not the only things you get  at  our Pumpkin Patch you also can get pens, pencils, erasers, they even have a little Fall setup so you can take pictures. All the money that people pay to get a pumpkin and go to all the events and fun things that we do at Ogden!

Waffles and Welcome & Constitution Day

Welcome
Comic Panel 1
Welcome to Ogden! Every year at Ogden we have  Waffles and Welcome! Waffles and Welcome held on the first day of school is our special Ogden way to welcome everyone to school after Summer break. This is a day filled with fun activities to help you get to know your teachers and classmates and… it’s just so  FUN!
When your class comes outside to the front circle on your right, you can get delicious waffles with so many different topping choices and on your left you can get in line for some yummy bagels, mmm, I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.
Then when you turn left past the bagels you can get tattoos and chat with friends. We also played Gaga, danced to music with DJ Pace, played some volleyball, and got to know our classmates quite well. At Ogden we were also on a game show called Adventure Sounds: Wild & Crazy Challenge. We had to answer some pretty hard trivia questions, do T.P challenges, use tiny hands to scoop up fake bugs, built with legos, tried to get a ball in a cup, and guessed characters on masks! Later on in the day we did a hula hooping challenge. For the 4th and 5th grade the Yellow Team won, for 2nd and 3rd grade the Green Team won, even though it was a competition everyone had a good time and that’s a big win if you ask me.
On Constitution Day we do something amazing for the 5th graders. After the 5th grade lunch high schoolers come to teach the fifth grade about the Constitution.

One reason I like Constitution Day is the high  schoolers come to teach us about the Constitution. First the high schoolers stand on the stage and teach the grade about the Constitution. The Constitution is the written law of our country. It makes sure that we are free and that everyone is treated equally. Not only do we learn what the Constitution is, but we also learn about why it was written, and whose job it is to make sure it's rules are followed.
Another reason I like Constitution Day is the high schoolers give us a word search. It is fun to get to learn from older kids and hear about what they have learned in their classes. It makes me look forward to being a high school student, when I hope to come back to Ogden and do the same thing.
In conclusion I think that the Constitution Day assembly is a lot of fun. So if you're younger than me, I recommend getting excited for fifth grade!

Student Council Elections & Patriot Day Assembly

By: Berin Dilek

Do you want to be in the Student Council office in Ogden? I can tell you all about the Student Council Elections. Part of being a Student Council Representative is a big job. You have to  be responsible, and care a lot about your school work. To be running for Student Council, you have to write a speech, and make a poster to persuade people to vote for YOU!! Once you are elected for President, Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer, you have a job to do. For President, you would be the leader of the meetings. You make the ideas, and share them with the people that are in the Student Council office! The Vice President is the assistant for the President. The Secretary's job is to take track of all of the meetings and keep things organized. The Treasurer's job is to keep track of the amount of money they have. If you want to be in the Student Council office in Ogden, all you gotta do is, be responsible enough to be a representative, make a poster and a speech, and you will be in the election!
By: Elias Roberts Patriot Day
On September 11th Ogden holds a memorial assembly where we remember the events of that day in 2001. Even though it was an awful day for so many people, we remember it because we have so much of our Ogden community that was affected by 9/11. We honor them by going outside in the front circle and singing patriotic songs. We have people from our community that come to Ogden to talk about what they did that day. These people are so brave, and we are so thankful to have them as a part of our community.

Author John Schu visits Ogden Elementary!
Meet John Schu by Isra Rasheed

This year at Ogden we had an author visit named, John Schu. He told us about what books he read when he was younger .We met in  the  auditorium and he told us about how he struggled reading when he was younger. He told us to always pick good books and ones that you like. He showed us some of the books that encouraged him to read more. Some of the books that he showed us were Matilda, Charlotte's Web and more. Mr. Schu also gave some suggestions on a bookmark that he gave us. Some of the suggestions were, “This is a School”, “This is a Story” and, “The Gift of Story” those were all made by Mr. Schu . He gave out  books to students, such as “ The One and Only Ivan”, the new book from “Dog Man ”and, the new book from “Captain Underpants” too and much more! During the week we also had a Summer Reading Celebration. The students had to choose one of the books that they read this summer. That person had to summarize the book that they read to another student. Afterwards, the students got a cookie to celebrate. All of this was done to help people find more books they'd be interested in, so get reading!
