My Teaching Philosophy

The primary role of a classroom educator, as highlighted by
Education (2020), centres on meticulous planning, thorough preparation, and
effective teaching methods aimed at achieving specific learning outcomes.
Furthermore, educators engage in critical reflection and inquiry to enhance
their knowledge and skills, thereby facilitating meaningful engagement with
learners and expanding their educational experiences. In the capacity of an
educator, my foremost responsibility is to provide comprehensive support to
each learner under my guidance, ensuring their progression to the next grade by
the end of the academic year.
To fulfill this commitment, I will focus on identifying
academically weaker students who require more attention than those who can work
independently. In recognition of this, additional classes will be made
available to students who need them, including those who voluntarily choose to
attend. My approach to teaching will be inclusive and multifaceted, allowing me
to cater to learners with different learning styles and capabilities. I am
prepared to reiterate lessons, using varied methods, if necessary, to ensure that
all students grasp the fundamental concepts effectively.

My Teaching Philosophy

According to the Department of Basic Education (DBE, 2011),
the National Curriculum Statement aims to produce learners who possess
problem-solving and decision-making abilities, critical and creative thinking
skills, teamwork, self-organization, and responsibility. This curriculum
promotes a holistic understanding of the interconnected world and the
importance of addressing issues in context. My goal as an educator aligns with
these aims, as I aspire to nurture students who not only work effectively in groups
but also take an academic lead in helping struggling peers. I emphasize the
importance of sharing knowledge and resources, fostering respect for one
another's diverse backgrounds, and ultimately, steering students toward
academic success and grade progression.
The Bill of Rights establishes that every learner has the
right to education, but this right is accompanied by the responsibility to work
diligently, cooperate, and show respect to both teachers and peers. Learners
also have the right to freedom and security, which means that actions like
bullying, physical or mental harm, and intimidation are strictly prohibited
within the school environment. Moreover, learners have the right to freedom of
speech, but this right should be exercised without causing harm to others or
infringing on their feelings. I consistently impart these principles to my
students, helping them understand their rights and responsibilities as
learners.
