The coffee grinder was first created in Turkey in the 1400s to the 1500s. They used it to grind coffee beans into powder. How it worked was they would open up the lid, put coffee beans in, close it, use a crank mill on the top and then open the small drawer at the bottom where the beans would have turned into a powder. These became very popular and more and more people started using them. The purpose of them was to have an easier way to make grind coffee. A lot of the ones that were first created had inscriptions on them. Some had names, symbols, designs or small messages engraved into them. The story I have written in the next few pages was inspired by this antique. I found it very interesting as to how many small details there were on these coffee grinders, the designs were so interesting to me. I hope you enjoy the story.

Once upon a time in a small orphanage in France there was a young girl named Eleanor. Eleanor was not like the other girls, she was smart. No one ever taught her so she taught herself with books she had found on the shelves in the orphanage. She learned how to read and write by observing the workers. She didn’t have many friends because of it but she was ok by herself. The workers and girls would always tell her that no one likes a smart girl. One ordinary day the girls were cleaning when all of a sudden King Louis XIV of France walks in and says “Ok we are taking you women to marry and help grow population in New France. You have 30 minutes to grab the things you want to bring the boat Journey will be long and hard.”. They loaded the boat and then left. Eleanor documented this in her journal she had found on the streets one day. She wrote “The year is 1664 and I’m on my way o New France. The boat is cold and wet and many people feel sick.”. The ride to New France was very hard on the girls from the orphanage they felt sick for the majority of the Journey. Once they had finally arrived in New France they went to many different hard working men to see who they would marry. Eleanor met Clarence. Clarence was a kind hearted, hard working builder.
