Growth Mindset

I think I could use these skills more in school when I have to do assignments. I usually end up saving all my assignments until the last minute. I could use my grit to improve assignments as well, make them better quality.

I have a very fixed mindset in singing. I love singing along to my favourite songs but I stink at singing. I have always accepted this as just a fact and never really done anything to change it. I realize that this mindset is very fixed and probably wrong. I know if i got a vocal coach and practiced singing exercises every day I could probably get better at singing, I’m just not sure if I’m ready to put in the work and commitment

I think I show my grit best when I enjoy doing thing I’m doing. For instance, when I mountain biked last summer there was a feature that I really wanted to do but I didn’t get it the first few times. It took me many tries but I eventually got it. I think I am the most gritty when I enjoy the activity.

I have come to realize that intelligence is not a fixed skill. You can grow your mind, and “smart” and “dumb” don’t actually exist, nothing is fixed. Your brain is like a muscle, if you exercise it, it will grow and expand. 

Realize when you’re at your breaking point, you may be angry, sad or frustrated - Take a break when you get to the breaking point- do something you like. - realize your past failures don’t define you - focus on the process not the current abilities

My thoughts on achievement in school haven’t actually changed much. I’ve always known I can get better grade as if I persist and learning about growth mindset hasn’t really changed my views.

- Success is based on work- you can’t think you’re great at everything. - Think how you can grow. - Add yet to I can’t do it. - Failure is important, it builds grit and a growth mindset.

I have realized that I have grit and effort when I’m motivated to do it. If I have a reason such as I enjoy the thing or I’m trying to prove a point to somebody, I usually have a lot of grit. However, when I do something that I’m not interested in and it doesn’t matter to me, then I’ll probably have less grit.

I’m not usually willing to fail at much, but with the learning about growth mindset we’re doing, I’ve come to realize that I should be more open to failure. I’m willing to fail a little in school this year, not that much but enough that I learn from it.
