Hugo: "This song has a hidden meaning that I can’t tell you about it because this song is really trash. Its title means "by the [limpid] fountain" The author of this song is anonymous. It is nowadays sung innocently by French children. Written traces of this song can be found from the 15 th century. This song was used for the French-Canadian national song. A Canadian journalist wrote the tune and lyrics seem to have been sung by “coureurs des bois” during long canoe trips. This song is known by all French people. Nana Mouskouri is a Greek singer but she sung a lot in French .&nbsp;Her version has a Greek instrumental arrangement!"

Clara "Probably most of French traditional songs have a trash double meaning,&nbsp;even songs that are today considered innocent nursery rhymes. They were initially songs for adults like many fairy tales like Sleeping Beauty or Tom Thumb &nbsp;“Une souris verte” is one of them. This means “a green mouse”. When you look at the lyrics, it seems designed for little kids but in fact the song is telling us the story of a royalist during the french revolution . Republican soldier tortured him by dipping him in hot oil and hot water . During the civil war , a lot of horrible things happened . A lot of blood was flows. Now it’s a song for little child and no one care about this double meaning . It’s like a fun song.&nbsp;"

Raphaëlle: "La bohème (Bohemian) is a very famous French song. It was written by Charles Aznavour, who is a very famous singer in France. He wrote a lot of other famous songs like: Emmenez-moi or Hier Encore. He wrote it in 1966. The expression “la Bohème” in French refers to a way of living from day to day, potentially in poverty but in carefreeness. This song called “La Bohème is about the nostalgia of the author when he was young. He missed the time he lived in Montmartre, a famous district in Paris, when he was happy even if the times were complicated. It was the time of the hunger, economic problems, but he was happy. This song opposes material troubles to the joy and the love he experiences. This was the nostalgia of his youth and of a Montmartre that no longer existed (in 1966!)"
