Introduction

Any type of materials related to combating school violence and the various forms of aggression contribute to improving and deepening the knowledge of educators, students, parents, and the community.

They provide information regarding the reduction of the spread of aggression, the formation of attitudes, skills, and competencies necessary to prevent, identify, and respond to incidents that are frequently reported in both national and international media.

From the most aggressive forms involving firearms, edged weapons, physical fights, rapes, thefts, property damage, to the less shocking ones like verbal violence, all of these, often accompanied by an abundance of violent imagery, pass before our eyes. In this context, there is an increasing prevalence of manifestations of aggression within the school environment and a continuous concern for preventing violent acts.

While it may seem like a challenging phenomenon to control, the issue of violence can only be reduced if its origins, causes, manifestations, and methods of combat and prevention are understood.

This guide provides you with an opportunity to comprehend what violence, stereotypes, bullying, but also tolerance, equality, and kindness are, and the similarities and differences between them.

This guide is a result of the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership KA229 project, exclusively between schools, with the project number 2020-1-RO01-KA229-080207, entitled "Tolerance and Equality Promoting Kindness" funded by the European Commission.

The partnership brought together five schools from Romania (the coordinator), Italy, Turkey, Lithuania, and Bulgaria. We hope that this outcome of ours will support the participating educators in the project, as well as all schools interested in developing a culture of nonviolence, based on a strategy to prevent its sources and causes.

Objectives

O1.To reduce the cases of violence by 8% by teaching 400 students from participating schools mutual respect, tolerance and care for peers in the first 2 years of the project, by developing a mutual strategy against violence.

O2.To improve the current methods used to combat bullying, violence and discrimination in partner schools by the 65 participating teachers within the 24 months by developing a good practice guide and sharing these methods with teachers, parents and other interested parties.

O3.To develop the communication and intercultural skills as well as digital and English language skills at 100 students during the project.

O4.To increase the teamwork and social integration skills for 100 students skills which can be transmitted to the rest of the students back home by workshops and common projects during the project.
