What is Follett Destiny?

Follett Destiny is the cataloging system for library books, Ebooks, and textbooks. Students and staff can search the catalog for books available in the Burbank Library as well as other libraries within the district. Through Interlibrary loan, students and staff can borrow materials from other district libraries.

Searching the Catlaog Using Destiny Discover

Remember, you can vary the search by keyword, title, author, subject or series. You can also sort your results by Dewey order, Titles, authors, publication dates, etc.

*Spelling matters (unlike Google, it will not "guess")
*Keep it simple - a few words at most (unless you're searching a specific title)
*Keyword is the default search (you can also search by title, author, subject, series, note, or ISBN)
*Sort your search results by Dewey to browse shelves in order
Filtering a Search
There are many ways to filter a search based on availability, genres, formats, reading levels, publication dates, number of pages, and more.

*Sort fiction results by genre to narrow books that fit your interest.
*Sort by publication date and/or reading level when focusing on books for research.
*You can use multiple filters in your search to narrow results.
Checking Out Ebooks
Login using the first part of your SAISD email and password. Ebooks can be checked out for 2 weeks at a time.

Ebook tips:
*Ebooks are automatically returned after 14 days but can be returned early.
*Ebooks are searchable.
*Text can be read to you by clicking the play button.
*Display options allow you change colors, text size, and backgrounds.
*You can add notes as you read.
Creating a Collection
If you are doing research or just want to put together a list of books you want to read in the future, you can create a collection of books as well as other resources using Destiny. You must login to create a collection.

Searching for Books in other schools
To search for books at other campuses, you will need to use the classic catalog rather than Destiny Discover.

ILL Requests:
*See the librarian to place an ILL request.
*It usually takes 2-3 days to receive an ILL book.
*ILL checkout length is based on the campus from which it is borrowed.
Self-Check Out
Students may check out their own books using the self-checkout station at computer #2 at the circulation desk.
Questions
Any student or staff member that does not have overdue materials can check out books using the self-checkout station. Just enter your ID (or your name and select it from a list) then scan the library barcode of the book you want to check out.
