This anthology is the result of the hard work of the freshmen class of Laguna Beach High School. As part of the school's LBHS FLOW program, freshmen interviewed a local citizen about the 1993 Laguna Beach Fire. Students also heard from LBFD Fire Captain Eric Lether on the topics of wildland firefighting and the 1993 fire specifically. After compiling their research, students then wrote an article based on the interview and the commemoration of the thirty-year anniversary of this devastating event. The articles collected here are the top twenty writing pieces as deemed by the LBHS English Department Ninth-Grade Team.
The epilogue for this anthology is a creative writing piece selected as the top submission from Mrs. Kaa's classes. We are proud of all of the students' diligence and thoughtfulness in creating these impactful compositions.
FLOW stands for fire, land, ocean, water, and LBHS FLOW is an environmental cross-curriculuar program at Laguna Beach High School designed to help students make powerful connections with academic content, with each other, and with the community.
