Positives of Montour School Districts Digital Citizenship Plan
Montour's digital citizenship curriculum covers grades K-12. They have a front-loading approach, in which their goal is to have all digital citizenship lessons completed by all students before the end of the first month of school. Montour teachers are provided with digital citizenship resources, including the digital citizenship lessons broken up into a sequence of days.
Montour's plan also puts ownership into students' hands by challenging high school students to develop a social media plan for the district.  Teachers receive an E-rate certification form to verify their teaching of digital citizenship lessons and hold them accountable. Moving forward, Montour wants to keep parents informed and engaged in the digital citizenship curriculum through info nights and presentations at PTA. #MontourProud
Montour School District's Digital Citizenship Plan is comprehensive. The lesson plans include blended learning and are ready to implement, easing the burden on teachers. The curriculum is grade-level appropriate. However, it might be a drawback in younger grades to have everything scripted. This leaves little opportunity for students to have ownership of their learning.
