NETHERLANDS

What is the name of the language spoken in Netherlands?

Dutch

The official language of the Netherlands is Dutch, spoken by almost all people in the Netherlands.
There are also some recognised provincial languages and regional dialects.
West Frisian is a co-official language in the province of Friesland. It is spoken by 453,000 speakers.
English is an official language in the special municipalities of Saba and Sint Eustatius, as well as the autonomous states of Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
Papiamento is an official language in the special municipality of Bonaire. It is also the native language in the autonomous states of Curaçao and Aruba.
Several dialects of Dutch Low Saxon (Nederlands Nedersaksisch in Dutch) are spoken in much of the north-east of the country and are recognised as regional languages according to the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages. Low Saxon is spoken by 1,798,000 speakers.
Another Low Franconian dialect is Limburgish, which is spoken in the south-eastern province of Limburg. Limburgish is spoken by 825,000 speakers.
The Netherlands also has its separate Dutch Sign Language, called Nederlandse Gebarentaal (NGT). It is still waiting for recognition and has 17,500 users.

The Po is a river that flows eastward across northern Italy. The Po flows either 652 km or 682 km – considering the length of the Maira, a right bank tributary. The headwaters of the Po are a spring seeping from a stony hillside at Pian del Re, a flat place at the head of the Val Po under the northwest face of Monviso (in the Cottian Alps). The Po ends at a delta projecting into the Adriatic Sea near Venice. It has a drainage area of 74,000 km² in all, 70,000 in Italy, of which 41,000 is in montane environments and 29,000 on the plain. The Po is the longest river in Italy; at its widest point its width is 503 m.

The Square of the Cock Clock

Many people associate the Square of the Cock Clock with pleasant meetings and the word “hello”, pronounced here every day and even several times per day. This is the place where people in love and businesslike men date, saying “Let’s meet at the cock”. The clock is built at the crossing of two main streets, in the very city centre.
In 2003, when the city was celebrating its 767 birthday, this symbol was renewed and the cock piped up: “Come to the date”.
Now the symbol of the city centre of Šiauliai both sings and welcomes guests of the city, saying “Welcome to Šiauliai!” The text sounds in English, German, French, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Romani and other languages at 10.45 a.m. and 16.45 p.m.
