Come and join our baby &amp; toddler group for FREE! Starts at 9am to 11am on Fridays during school term time. Second session is on Friday 20th May at our Churston Avenue Site. Parents from both sites are welcome to attend.

Due to the start of our new ‘Stay and Play’ Toddler group, we will now be having our Sharing Assemblies on a Thursday. This will start next week on Thursday 19th May - the times will remain the same. As we are nearing the end of the Summer 1 term, we wanted to remind parents that the last day of term is Friday 27th May 2022 and all children will be finishing at normal time. Please ensure your child is collected on time. This week in Year 6 we have continued our work on Blogging. We have created a set of rules we need to follow to ensure we stay safe online while we Blog and Vlog. We have planned our Blog pages and are now working on our Blog posts.&nbsp;

Throughout this week, our children have been focusing on the clay aspect of our mural. They have created many different pieces based on nature and once dry, these will be glazed (painted) and then fired in a kiln (like an oven that goes up to 1100 centigrade).

Our Year 2 children were very lucky to have a workshop all about Florence Nightingale. They learnt so much about her.&nbsp;

Some of us acted like soldiers whilst, the others pretended to be the helpful nurses and wrapped bandages on our arms and legs.

Did you know during the Crimean War they had no telephones? We stood in a line to show how messages were sent from Crimea to the editor to publish news.

Year 3 have thoroughly enjoyed their workshop this week on Earthquakes and Volcanoes linked to their Geography unit. 

Children learnt about the differences between earthquakes and volcanoes and how they are formed. Children roleplayed being an explorer and going on an adventure to different places, they also learnt about different types of volcanoes and earthquakes.

From Monday 23rd May 2022, pupils at Upton Cross will be celebrating &amp; learning&nbsp;about&nbsp;the&nbsp;Queen's Jubilee Pupils will have the opportunity to dress up &amp; commemorate the event with fun activities.&nbsp; More information will be provided&nbsp;in next week's newsletter.

We are coming to the end of our Debate Mate year and our brilliant Y6 children have blown us away in the last debate competition! A few weeks ago, our teams took on the challenge of the Debate Mate Cup and competed against 32 schools from all over London. We travelled to Baker Street to visit the University of Westminster campus, where we took part in multiple (successful) debates.

Our brave Y6 children were so good, in fact that they ended up debating in the final on stage against Elmhurst Primary. They smashed their speeches and made us proud, despite being the runners up. What a fantastic Debate cohort this year!!
