Fourth session will take place after the half term on Friday 10th May at our Churston Avenue Site. Parents from both sites are welcome to attend!

Thank you to everyone who took part in clubs this term. Please note, the following clubs below will continue in the Summer 2 term at both sites. For the new clubs at Churston Avenue, you will have received your confirmation email via Parentmail by the end of the day. There are no new clubs starting at Orwell Road for next term.

As we are nearing the end of the Summer 1 term, we wanted to remind parents that the last day of term is Friday 27th May 2022 and all children will be finishing at normal time. Please ensure your child is collected on time. All children are to return to school at normal time on Monday 6th May 2022 Please note, you can find more information regarding our school term dates on our <a href="https://www.uptoncross.newham.sch.uk/docs/Upton_Cross_Master_Term_dates_2021_-_2022___3_.pdf">school website</a>.

This week, some of our Year 5 and 6 children went on a residential visit to Kingswood. They took part in a range of exciting activities including, ziplining, climbing jungle vines, roller disco and raft building. The trip was enjoyed immensely by all, despite unpredictable weather at times! We were impressed by the huge amount of teamwork, resilience and independence our children showed.

We are extremely proud of the maturity, comradery and determination our children demonstrated during their stay at Kingswood. Not only in the way they attacked the activities but in the support they provided one another when getting ready for the day, showering and at night when sleeping in unique cabin accommodation. 

Next half-term every class will have the opportunity to visit their local library with their class teacher and find out lots of exciting information about all the summer reading challenges! Please have a look at the dates and times your child's class will be going and speak to your child's class teacher if you would like to support the visit. As usual, our Summer Fair will be returning in July at both of our sites however, we have had a change in dates. Please see below what days the Summer Fair will be taking place on each site: Orwell Road Site - Friday 1st July 2022 Churston Avenue Site - Monday 4th July 2022

A big well done to all our Year 2 pupils who completed their Key Stage One Sats last week. They were incredibly focussed and did themselves and their teachers proud. A big thank you to all the teachers and support staff who have worked so hard with the pupils this year.

Please be reminded if your child has been selected for tutoring during May half term, the sessions will run at our Churston Avenue site, E13, 0RJ. Please note the days and times: Monday 30th May 2022 - 8am -1pm&nbsp; Tuesday 31st May 2022 - 8am - 1pm Wednesday 1st June 2022 - 8am - 1pm

Please ensure your child brings a healthy snack for the morning as lunch will not be provided on these days.

Last week we opened our new Edible Garden at Orwell. The Eco Warriors helped while Mrs Moore cut the ribbon. Come and see how our growing is going!

This week marked the celebration of the Queen's Jubilee at Upton Cross! We spent the week learning all about the Commonwealth and about the Queen's role over the past 70 years. We ended the week with a celebration fit for a queen where we decorated cupcakes, performed dances from the commonwealth countries and sang the National Anthem. An Upton Cross time capsule was buried in a secure location, ready to be opened in years to come. If that wasn't enough, we even planted an Elizabeth Rose Bush to commemorate the day. You just couldn't get us to stop partying!

Picture day is coming!&nbsp; On Thursday 9th June 2022, we are pleased to share that we will be having a photographer coming in to take class photographs to capture the end of the school academic year, for you and your child. Please make sure your child is dressed in full school uniform that day - details of which can be found on our <a href="https://www.uptoncross.newham.sch.uk/SCHOOL-UNIFORM/">website</a>.

On Tuesday 24th May, Year 6 children at Upton Cross had an exciting visit to Stratford Picture House. For many children it was their first ever experience at the Cinema! Therefore, we are delighted that they had a memory to last forever.&nbsp; The children watched the new Hollywood animation film "The Bad Guys" and they thoroughly enjoyed it, along with some movie snacks too.
