ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Ambition Aspire Achieve will be carrying out their October Playscheme for the half term. Make sure to read the flyer if you would like to sign your child up!

Please be mindful of food items containing nuts.&nbsp; There are children in the school who have nut allergies and therefore we have to be very careful that no products are bought into school with nuts or traces of nuts. We are a NUT FREE School.

Reminder to parents, please ensure where possible appointments are made out of school time. This is to ensure your child does not miss their education.&nbsp; Additionally, where possible, please book vaccination appointments on a weekend or Friday as this can cause the child to have / develop an illness the following day therefore making them absent from school.&nbsp;&nbsp;

This is a reminder to all parents that there will be an INSET day on Monday 31st October 2022. Therefore, children will return to school after the half term on Tuesday 1st November 2022. Half term: 24/10/2022 to 28/10/2022

If you have a child in Year 6, can I remind you that you must submit your secondary school choices online by 31st October.&nbsp; Please note that the date cannot be extended. There is still a large number of Year 6 children whose parents have yet to send us their  application reference number. Please speak to Ms Bhudiya should you have any questions. 

Come and join our baby &amp; toddler group for FREE! Starts at 9am to 11am on Fridays during school term time. Parents from both sites are welcome to attend. See the dates below to know which site the next one will take place.

We are having a growing number of children turning up to school late each morning. All parents and carers have a duty to bring their child into school every day and on time.&nbsp; As a reminder, here is some key information with regards to our start of day: Gates open at: 8:40am&nbsp; Registration begins at: 8:50am&nbsp; Gates close at: 8:55am This week we have had 90 children who have been late, this is something we will be monitoring in the coming weeks.

Harvest Festival collections - 26th September - 14th October 2022 We are pleased to share that we will be partnering with a local food bank this autumn. This is a fantastic opportunity to help those in our local community by bringing in a tin (or packet) of food, such as tinned tomatoes, soups or pasta, to leave on our Harvest table if you can. Many thanks in advance for your help. Will give an update when we have all of the donations and we have dropped off to the food bank.

At Upton Cross, we will be learning Signalong. We will learn a sign a week. Have a look at the <a href="https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1pNFdsrT_Urk7v7B4La_3OeQIemLitJEyzRo3YSW_yAw/edit?usp=sharing">slides</a> to see which signs we will be learning.

We are delighted to share that clubs will be starting next half term, the week commencing the 7th November. We are excited to shared that we will be offering the following clubs: KS1 (Year 1 - 3): Storytelling, arts and crafts, football KS2 (Year 4 - 6): Streetdance, drama and football. If you would like to reserve a place in one of the clubs, please respond via ParentMail no later than Wednesday 12th October. We have 20 places available for each club which will be offered on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Clubs with a cost, should be paid up front for the term when the booking is made on ParentMail.

Please be reminded that pupils should be wearing their full&nbsp;PE kit (trainers, joggers/shorts, red t shirt and no jewellery) on the days that they have PE lessons. We have made some amendments to our timetables, so please do liaise with your child and or the class teacher.&nbsp; Thank you for your continued support.

Year 6 have really enjoyed their work on World War 2 this term. They recently attended an online workshop with author Sufiya Ahmed, the author of ‘Rosie Raja: Churchill’s Spy”. Sufiya’s book tells the story of a Muslim girl who plays a key role in the French Resistance. This fantastic workshop supported our work on the Blitz, the evacuees and how the Axis and Allies forces clashed over Poland. Next up: a local study on the impact of the war on our local community.

The flu team will be visiting Reception to Year 6 pupils at Upton Cross on:&nbsp; Monday 14th November and Monday 12th December. For parents who want their child to have the vaccine that does not contain porcine gelatine, you can&nbsp; also do this by using the consent link above. If you wish for your child to receive the injection, please&nbsp; say no to the nasal flu vaccine, you will then be taken to the page where you can consent for the&nbsp; injection instead.

Head lice are tiny insects that live in human hair. Head lice are a common problem in school children aged 4 to 11. It’s thought that up to one in three children in the UK may get head lice at some point during the year. A head lice infestation isn't the result of dirty hair or poor hygiene. All types of hair can be affected - regardless of its length - and head lice can usually be effectively treated with lotions or sprays designed to kill head lice, or by wet combing, using a specially designed head lice comb. Please visit your pharmacist to find out how best to treat head lice.&nbsp;&nbsp;
