To celebrate the success of our Platinum Jubilee week at school, we have put together a short video to highlight some of the learning that the children embarked on about Queen Elizabeth II. On Wednesday 6th July, we will be having an ‘Eco Day’ to raise funds for some green spaces within the school. Children and staff will be asked to come to school dressed in blue or green clothing. Please bring a small donation of a £1 to help raise money for the day. We are looking forward to seeing everyone wearing their ‘earthly’ colours!&nbsp;

Soon, your child will receive a book to commemorate the once in a life time memorable moment of the Queen's Jubilee. It will help your child understand&nbsp;the amazing life and time of our Queen and the magic of the unique, unshakable bond she shares with the people she serves. They'll discover the rich history of the UK and Commonwealth and meet a few of the incredible achievers who have helped to make the 70 years of the Queen's reign so eventful and extraordinary.&nbsp; The Platinum Jubilee&nbsp;not only honours Her Majesty's long and loyal service, but also the resilient, diverse, and inclusive communities that we live in. It is a time for us all to come together -and celebrate!

As you know, we are nearing the end of the current academic year therefore, please find the term dates for the upcoming 2022/2023 academic year <a href="https://www.uptoncross.newham.sch.uk/docs/Upton_Cross_Master_Term_dates_2022_-_2023__1_.pdf">linked</a>. You can also find these on the school website.

As you will be aware, Kirton Road/ Churston Avenue will be holding their annual Summer Fair on Friday 1st July/ Monday 4th July from 1pm to 3pm. To support the success of the day, we encourage parents to arrive at 1pm to accompany children to the fair.

We also ask that you provide your children with a maximum of £5 at the start of the day in a container/bag so that they can take part and access the stalls available. There will be a wide range of activities including: Wet the Teacher, Bouncy Castle, Penalty Shootout, Face Painting, food and drinks and lots more.&nbsp; We look forward to seeing you and thank you for your continued support.

We are very excited to announce that on 7th July from 3.30pm - 6.30pm, we will be hosting an Achievement Evening on both our sites.&nbsp; This will be an opportunity for you to celebrate the work your child has completed this academic year, a chance to meet your child’s new teacher and classroom and hear about the learning experiences your child will embark upon. We look forward to seeing you there.&nbsp;

We are pleased to announce that a local Newham Primary School will be running a HAF camp. This will be based at Hallsville Primary School over the summer.&nbsp; The camp is only open to children who are eligible for&nbsp;Free School Meals or are classed as vulnerable and go to school within Newham. The dates the Camp is running are; 25th&nbsp;July – 25th&nbsp;August (Mon-Thurs each week) 9am-3pm daily

Project&nbsp;Genesis is an&nbsp;exciting FREE* project for Refugees and Asylum Seekers run by ELS in East London.&nbsp;The programme delivers ESOL &amp; Community Integration lessons that focuses on improving the Learners English skills.&nbsp;Our classes are delivered by qualified and experienced teachers. Project Genesis is&nbsp;an ideal summer course, it will help learners to bridge the gap and encourage them to keep practicing their English skills over the summer holiday The 6 week programme begins Thursday 30th&nbsp;&nbsp;June – Thursday 4th&nbsp;August, once a week,&nbsp;3 hours per lesson. On Thursday 23rd June, Upton Cross athletes from year 4 and 5 competed in the Newham Sports Festival at Rokeby and Eastlea Schools. Pupils competed across four sports: handball, table tennis, cricket and athletics. Pupils showed teamwork, respect, self-belief, passion and determination. In addition to the success in the games, Upton Cross also achieved two individual gold medals for overall best sporting performance on the day. Well done to Param Mehmi and Sabiha Uddin!
