“Martin Luther King Junior's Word”
“I Have A Dream” was one of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s most popular speeches,
He wanted Freedom,
He wanted Equality,
He wanted to let Freedom Ring.
He expressed what he felt through his words,
He led the civil rights movement,
But was sent to jail for protesting for what he believed.
He wanted Black rights.
Until he got Assassinated on April 4,1968 in Memphis, TN.

“Time and again, powerful and brilliant men and women have produced racist ideas in order to justify the racist policies of their era, in order to redirect the blame for their era’s racial disparities away from those policies and onto Black People." Ibram X. Kendi

The Little Black Girl
I hold my head high over those offended by my color,
I’m unique, special, and most importantly...
My Black Is BEAUTIFUL.
My hair flourishes like a tree rooting down
To my ancestors who are proud to be ... Black Beauty
Our skin is rich like a chocolate swirl
Who sometimes isn't accepted in this world.
So little black girl never be afraid
Of your knots and curls this is our world
Police Brutality, Colorism is something
We have to deal with because of our color,
So we raise our right fist and stand up for our rights.

Why was it so hard to accept other differences?
Was it insecurity within themselves?
Was it to make them feel superior? We have come, treading our path
through the blood of the slaughtered.
Even though our skin was darker than somebody else's,
that doesn't mean that you needed to treat us differently
or even call us thugs.
People say that we will never make a future for ourselves
or our families just because we look different.
Despite the negative, we’ve still pushed through
and we’ve come a long way,
but we wouldn't have made it without people like:
Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela and many others.
Though we have come a long way
a lot of people still have this mindset about
Black people being criminals ,
or how Black people are lazy,
when that's not really the case.
We have strived and strived but that’s still not enough,
We were met with hatred and anger instead of peace and love .
Will we ever be truly free?
Will the world ever stop judging?
Was it insecurity within themselves?
