PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Dear Parents and Students,

Dr. S Somanth, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization had a passion for science from his childhood and his father who was a Hindi teacher, played a pivotal role in nurturing his scientific interests by giving him science books to read. This environment fostered the burgeoning scientist within him to evolve. He was passionate about learning new technologies and his unwavering commitment to his passion propelled him forward. The spark of curiosity which he had nurtured since his childhood ignited a blazing fire for space science and research when he was doing his Engineering.

This brilliant engineer has a profound connection with spirituality, which he weaves into the very fabric of his life. Just as he navigates complex scientific challenges, he treads the intricate labyrinth of his spiritual inclinations. The strong ethos and values which he possesses are obtained from the deep-rooted tradition of our State. He has imbibed it as a child from the village and the environment in which he was brought up. This helped him to remain unassuming even when he climbed up the ladder of success.

Students should take cues from the life of this genius and explore new avenues in technology and Artificial Intelligence to come up with new findings for humanity without forgetting the ethos and values which are passed to us by our forefathers.

This was an eventful month with Assisi hosting many of the programmes for the first time like the CBSE Cluster XI Volleyball Championship and Assisi Round Table Conference. Both were Inter-District events and boasted of good participation. The student volunteers and teachers, through the meticulous conduct of the programme and hospitality, have spread the goodwill of our Assisi.

The Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals is on October 4, and we celebrate it as School Day. The feast honours the life of Francis of Assisi who is remembered for his generosity to the poor and for his love for animals and nature. This was depicted beautifully through a tableau by the students of classes VII D and VII F. Our Director Rev. Fr. Jacob Baiju Ben gave a thought-provoking message on the life of St. Francis and how we should emulate the saint in our lives. St. Francis rightly said, “Do few things but do them well, simple joys are Holy”

The students of classes II A and II B together celebrated the School Day with a skit. Five students from each class narrated relevant quotes by the saint. As our Patron Saint is the saint of environment and animals, the children made masks of animals, butterflies and flowers. We made cutouts of two trees. The hand prints, of all the students of classes II A & II B made the leaves for the trees. The skit symbolically gave the message to protect Nature. Students also sang our School Anthem “Make me a channel of your peace……”.

ARANGETTAM 2023

Arangettam 2023 was conducted on Wednesday, 4 October, 2023. During the Guruvandanam ceremony, Music and Dance teachers were honoured by gifting them the traditional Kerala attire. A thought-provoking message was delivered by our Administrator Rev. Dr. George Mathirappilly. The vibrant programmes started off with the Carnatic vocal recited by the students of classes from I to VIII. The western vocals by the students were music to the soul. The budding talents from classes VI to VIII enthralled the audience with the musical bonanza. The graceful dancers gave a mesmerizing performance. The stellar performance of the Assisians exuded a magical aura.

The fourth Installation Ceremony of the Interact Club of our school was held on 05 October, 2023. The past President Intr. Devi Sreekanth Pillai delivered the President's speech. The past Secretary Intr. Devnanda R Satish talked about the projects that were completed during their tenure. Intr. Aabha Shine took the audience through the Installation Ceremony. Intr. Vanikripa H was announced as the President of the Interact Club of Assisi Vidyaniketan Public School for the year 2023-2024, by the immediate past President Intr. Devi Sreekanth Pillai. Intr. Ashlee Grace K W was elected as the Secretary along with Intr. Afron Ancily as the Treasurer, Intr. Kris Samuel David as the Vice President, Intr. Sarah D'Costa and Intr. Chris Tony are the Directors. Rtn. Geevarghese Varghese, President of the Rotary Club of Cochin Harbour and Youth Service Chair Rtn. Divya spoke on the occasion.

READERZ HAVEN BIBLIOTHECA

On the occasion of the Birth Centenary of our founder Director, Rev. Dr. Francis Kannikal SJ, School Management arranged a befitting memorial for him. It is the state-of-the-art READERZ HAVEN Bibliotheca, the new-gen automated book Self-Issue and Return system. The “READERZ HAVEN”, new gen Bibliotheca was inaugurated by Dr. Shashi Tharoor, MP. Sri. Hibi Eden, MP was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Career Pathways to cater to Career Counselling sessions, a research Café to undertake research works of the students are a few features.
