THE RAFT

Night was coming. And a storm too, with flashes of lightning. It was cold.

“You instead! What are you bringing with you?” The child with soft curly hair like wool replied: “This is a rainbow! I’m never feeling sad with it in my new house, I’m belonging to”. Everyone looked at the rainbow in the sky and smiled.

Thus, with their mouth open everyone could drink the freshing drops falling from the sky.

That’s the way I saw them arriving, while flying in the wind. They arrived from the sea with a thin big red heart driven by the wind. Since then, those foreigners with eyes like gems, curly hair like wool, rosy cheeks like apples, thin legs like bamboo and sweet smiles like candies have been living here now.

Can you hear them laughing? They’re from that new house waiting for them to come on this side of the sea.

A raft was floating in the sea. Five travellers were sitting on it. Far from home they felt alone and sad.

By having licked it hungrily, the children made that heart thinner and thinner, so that they now could use it as a sail to quickly float in the wind.

“I, instead! I’m bringing a cloud with me. This is full of rain, whenever I’m feeling thirsty in my new house, I’m going to live in. It’s a gift my father gave me as he took it with a ladder from the sky”, the child with rosy cheeks like apples said.

The child with thin legs like bamboo pulled out the blanket that his mother sewed for him whenever he’s being cold in his new house, he’s going to live in. “Your blanket is so warm” the others said. So everyone could sleep in the warmth that night.

So, one of them asked the other: “What are you bringing with you in your bag?” With eyes glittering like gems, the other opened his bag and a ray of sunshine spread out. “Just in case I’ll be afraid of darkness in my new house, where I’m going to live in” he replied.

“And You? What are you bringing with you in your bag? It’s so large and swollen!” everyone said to the child with a sweet smile like a candy. His bag was likely to burst. As the child openned it, a soft big red heart was getting out of it. “Oh my child, your heart is so sweet...” “Your heart is so kind...” “Oh my child, your heart is sweet like a lollipop...” The youngest said tasting it. Nobody was hungry now on the raft floating in the sea.
