What is a frieze = a crucial part of time or history demonstrated with an image. And over here (expand the image to see) you will see one vital part of Ally’s life. The Concours d’Art Oratoire. This was a life changing moment. This is when i realized that I love public speaking. 

Oregon trip rating Overall rating = 8/10 I loved this trip. I thought that it was very nicely put together, and we were relatively organized even if it did take us 10 minutes to load the car. But I wold definitely go on this trip again. But the reason why it was not a 10 out of 10 is because put 28 grade 8s together, you are going to have a fair bit of drama. This has nothing to do with the trip itself, but of how some people handled the situation immaturely. Food = 10/10 Do I really even need to say anything more, on this trip I found my new favourite Thai restaurant. Please make a future project convincing Nisa to start a restaurant in Vancouver. Activities = 10/10 All of the activities were stellar. Not only did I have fun, but I learned loads, and most importantly I want to point out just how effective these activities were at making us interact. I am now friends with so many people who I had never ever talked to before the trip. Quests = 8/10 To tell the truth, the quests themselves were an excellent idea. But honestly there was some edge-cutting going on. Yes, the idea itself is smart, go directly to the stamp and figure the word out on your way back to Mr. Hughes. But is this fair? Social interaction = 7/10 One word. Drama. I bet you have had to deal with it before, but meeting all of the people on this trip was incredible. I especially enjoyed talking to the waitresses at the Chalet. Trip = 10/10

This was an incredibly, umm intellectually inspiring experience. Sure, that tone may make you second guess my response, but I really did have fun. An educational perspective of fun. This is not the kind of place that I would go for my birthday, or for a crazy girls night, but I did have a kind of fun that makes me look back 5 minutes later and think, “ that was exuberating “ . And I believe that this was exactly the feel that this “ Northwest Trek “ was supposed to radiate. You could tell that all of the workers there just wanted to scream’ the life of this world depends on you and these animals’. Which is very true. My understanding of the ecosystem and my interest in changing the world has been boosted since my trip. Did you know hat in 20 yers they estimate the development of areas will be so high that large ecosystems such as the amazon will be a tourist stop!! I jus thought this was too much. The development of planet earth continues yo affect those of today, and the ‘Northwest Trek’ is just another ongoing effort to improve this mess. Unfortunately this might not be looking up anytime soon.

Depoe Bay is known as the smallest navigable harbor. On March 11, 2011, the port was damaged by a tsunami caused by an earthquake off the coast of Japan.

When we were sitting down by the First Nation section, taking notes of those on the TV, someone who prefers to remain anonymous mentioned that this museum does not have much in the way of information. on the First Nations and the white mens impact. Which was true. But if you compare the traditions and ceremonies that we learn of in this museum, to the ceremonies of this day and age, then you may have a good understanding of the impact of the European colonists. Back before the white men ruled North America, the ‘Indian Americans’  had many rituals of music and dance. They weaved baskets and traveled by canoe. All of this stopped when the white men came, and his is when the situation got dark. Children were forced into residential schools, and parents were removed of their ranking and basically reduced to scum.. but the society of today continues to help them recover.

What’s on the schedule 6:30 = Are these people tying to deprive us of sleep? 7:45 = Its pancake breakfast time 12:00 = Visit Fort Stevens 4:00 = Its the moment that we have all been waiting for. Zip lining! 8:00 = The best Thai food you will ever taste

Fort Stevens, I’ am not going to lie, was not my favourite part of this trip so far. Does this mean that I didn’t like Fort Stevens? No way. I have never been a real war history girl, but I really did love learning about the underground experimental battery. It’s really truly fascinating  how the guns operated underground, and how the people did as well.. did you know that those who resided in the underground battery had to keep the floor wet with water to prevent the nails on their boots from setting on fire! 

And in case you were not tired of the chocolate fountain yet...

10 reasons you need to drop everything that you are doing and go stuff yourself at the Golden Corall: 1. It is one of THOSE buffets. Yep you do not want to miss it. 2. All of their food is higher quality than anything you have tried before. 3. They have a chocolate fountain. Seriously. 4. The prices are relatively low 5. Their service rivals that of the Elbo room ( it then again, most venues do ). 6. They have a chocolate fountain. 7. You are allowed unlimited refills when it comes to drinks. 8. The food is more fresh than air. 9. The food arrives fast ;). 10. Did I mention that there is a chocolate fountain.

I really admire places this, especially when you find them in smaller towns. It is quite a jump to open a business in a small town because of lack of tourist business. Say for example you have a good zip-lining place in New York. This zip-center may do better than that in the town of Newport Oregon. But places like this are incredibly important to small town. This would actually benefit not only Oregon, but the business itself. If you were touring Oregon, and you picked up a brochure that advertised a great zip-center there in Newport, then you may just stay in the little town. This is a win-win situation

Tillamook Cheese Factory and Izzy’s Buffet

I’m not completely sure as to why the Tillamook creamery was founded here exactly (32*N 86*W), but if I were to make an educated guess, I would obviously notice that the Tillamook creamery is stationed right in the middle of a large field. This is what we cal farm section. Obviously they would have cultivated here for its incredible surroundings, for raising and breeding cows would be light years easier than creaming in the middle of the Rockies mountains or the middle of manhattan. This would be my very educated guess 

This science classes that we took today at that marine center of biology was so fun! Me and my loyal jammers learned about the process of scientific information. We then tested ou knowledge by wondering if a crabs size affects this speed. We then put our crab in our makeshift (beautiful race track). And oh boy, our findings demonstrated that the smaller the crab the more agile its movements. We found this by letting the crabs ADAPT to their surroundings, and averaging their time we noticed that on average, the smaller crabs were about 7 seconds fast science data collection is much more difficult tha it is chalked up to be.

I am so excited to see the ___________. I have heard that there are many around Oregon coast.  Guess what my animal is. Here is a hint : it flies, but is it a bird, no!

I’m really over the moon at the prospect of getting to spot a wild airplane. Apparently according to a professional source we will spot many yellow planes. I was especially exited to get to Oregon because wild planes are  very rare in Vancouver.     

There is a very obvious reason as to why there is a tsunami section in this visitor center. Just ask yesterday’s quest. This area is very tsunami prone, and there are signs all around the town to prove it. Obviously if there was one area that needed a machine to educate those around it, that machine would be here. I think that this was a great idea on there part, because I found myself becoming very earthquake smart, and tourists around this area would need this education to. The chances of them dying in a tsunami would be much higher than the life risks of a local., who must have been through thousand briefings and drills. We knew that scientists were smart!

Did you know that an ocean produced chemical called carenin  resides in most of the products that we use in our day-to-day life. Carenin is an underwater ecoplankton that is used to dye or thicken liquid substances. Such as our hand lotion. Yes, bath and body works, we know your secret. And even our toothpaste. Did you know that you brush your teeth every night with single called last organisms?  Don’t lie. But here is the part that will really put you in doubt (if you are not already). Did you know that carenin resides, effectively in our ice cream? Mind. Blown. Therefore me and my team must have to come to the conclusion that ice cream is a vegetable

When I heard that we would be going to cobble beach, I got really exited! Who doesn’t love an excuse to get free souvenirs. But to my dismay, these rocks and this beach are considered a “protected part of nature”. So we had to trash that idea.   

Unfortunately, due to lack of space on my phone I was unable to film a video interviewing this jelly. But this was a picture that I managed to take. I thought this was really neat because just the previous day we had gone trolling as an activity and I found this exact type of jellyfish. (At least according to my research.)

Hatfield Marine Science Center R.O.V. Challenge

Do you find it as hard to talk of a subject that does not interest you as I do? No just me?  Well how about we talk about something that I do enjoy. What else cold ROV stand for?  Running On Venus? Reading Of Veloceraptors? In short, I did not get as much out of this as I did the crab racing. That activity was enjoyable and enlightening. Where as this activity seemed stretched, and was not quite as engaging. But where to fit i the driving question? How about what I did enjoy. I sure did love just stopping and observing the chaos around me. Because very now I and then it is fun o the back and reflect on all of the work being done around you. And I did pick up on some valuable aspects. My group too a very, creative approach to the project. Using our common knowledge of physics we decided that we wanted an angular design that would be very swift, yet we wanted to consider agility aswell. With these guidelines we came up with a unique design. We shaped in image of a pirate ship. And then could you guess what we called it? The USS JAM. (Jam being outr team name. Refer to page a) in case of confusion). And the USS jam was incredible. She cut through he water like nobodies business, and we maybe would have one the race if our motor had not fallen off . Of course we were proud of this ROV. But I in particular pride our design on being different than those of our classmates.

1. The only movie character that I have ever been scared by is lord Voldemort. And that was 7 years ago. 2. I am so crazy about horse back riding that I have taught my dog to run a jump course. And she can jump higher than me 3. Well time will have to tell

Columbia River Maritime Museum Crossing the Bar Section

Would I be willing to cross the bar? Well, if the ‘ crossing the bar ’  section of this museum ever needed a researcher, or just some more information, I would be their girl. But if you ever asked me to cross the “actual” bar. Oh no sir. The thought of actually going out and risking my life? Did you know that a couple of years ago the survival rate of crossing the bar was 12%. That is too crazy! Peter Iredale crashed while crossing it!. Although i do think that the bar is very neat, and is a dangerous, intense sport.
