Short kid's story about how the power of social media can affect kids if they are not smart with it.

Lillys First Phone

But after a while, her parents started to notice all the many hours Lilly was spending on social media  

Lilly agreed and spent some time playing games with her family.

"Sweet girl, can you please put the phone down and spend some time with your family?" Her dad said

"Why have you been so sad recently sweetheart?" Her mom asked

Her mother was sad, but also angry at this unknown person...

Lilly was hesitant at first but eventually explained everything to her mom.

She told Lilly to never listen to a cyberbully or other mean things people say online.

Although, when the games were over and bedtime was right around the corner...

She was staying up late, interacting to very nice people online.

Lilly went upstairs and dove right back on her phone.

But then a new unknown profile started to talk to her...<br/>

Lilly realized her addiction to social media and how it was not good for her.

Lilly's mom came up with the ideas to limit her screen time, and promise not to interact with strangers online.

After a while, Lilly started to spend more time with family and friends, becoming her happy self again.

On Lilly's 13th birthday she came home from school to a surprise!

A small Rectangular box was wrapped<strong> </strong>in glimmering wrapping paper with a green bow on top labeled "To: Lilly"

Oh she was so excited because she knew her older siblings got their first phone on their 13th birthdays.

She untangled the red bow and unwrapped the sparkly paper...

"A phone!" She yells. "Thank you mom and dad. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

After family dinner, Lilly went up to her room to finally invest her time on her new expensive toy.

After, she searched and searched the web and social media...

The first thing she did was call her grandma who lives far away and tell her the good news

She figured out she likes many new things.<br/>

Lilly got an unusual feeling about this, but went on talking anyways.

The next morning she woke up feeling awful about herself from the comments of a stranger, and her mood started to change...

The stranger started to say terrible things to her.

This was another thing her parents started to notice.

She enjoyed spending her time and talking to all sorts of interesting people who liked the same things as her.

And Lilly is interested in talking to new people.
