The National Centre for Computing Education Computing Quality Framework is intended to help schools review their progress in developing the computing curriculum. The framework takes you through each aspect of computing, helping you to access the NCCE’s wide range of resources, report, and progress. The development of the framework was funded by the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/news/tech-experts-to-provide-national-centre-for-computing-education">DfE</a>&nbsp;. Bespoke support from a computing Subject Matter Expert (SME) Schools not yet delivering GCSE computer science, and those in Luton (Local Authority District 5) can access support from a local SME potentially attracting an additional subsidy. <a href="https://teachcomputing.org/bursary#subject">Find out more</a>. STEM Ambassadors As part of the STEM wider network of support, STEM Ambassadors are volunteers from a wide range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related jobs and disciplines across the UK. They offer their time and enthusiasm free of charge to help engage young people inside and out of the classroom. We work with <a href="https://www.stempointeast.org.uk/">STEMPOINT Eas</a>t and the <a href="https://www.stem.org.uk/stem-ambassador-hub-london">STEM Learning London Team</a>. Science Learning Partnerships (SLPs) As part of the wider STEM Learning network, Teach Computing proudly support our <a href="https://www.stem.org.uk/science-learning-partnerships">SLPs</a> who combine local expertise in teaching and learning in science, facilitating CPD, and providing school-to-school support. We work with the Herts and Essex SLP (Central Beds, Luton and North Herts), the South Central SLP (Hertfordshire) and the Central and West London SLP (Brent, Camden, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster).

The<a href="https://teachcomputing.org/about"> National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE)</a> is funded by the Department for Education and marks a significant investment in improving the provision of computing education in England.

The <a href="https://albantsh.co.uk/">Alban TSH</a> and <a href="https://sandringham.herts.sch.uk/">Sandringham School</a> became one of the first schools in England to be awarded official Computer Hub status by the NCCE, endeavouring to provide support for primary and secondary computing teachers in schools in the area.

The <a href="http://sandringhamcomputinghub.org/">Sandringham Computing Hub</a> is the local face of the National Centre, providing tailored support to all teachers (primary, secondary and colleges), to equip them to make the new computing curriculum into an inspirational reality in every classroom in the land.

We hope to play a significant role in supporting the national imperative of strengthening the quality of computer science teaching across all key stages. Computer science is a key STEM subject and through high-quality teaching, we will be developing the programmers and innovators of the future. This will support our intellectual capital and ensure the United Kingdom continues to be a leading economy on the World Stage.

Teach primary computing A nationally recognised qualification designed to help teachers demonstrate their commitment to developing their own computing practice for key stages 1 and 2. PRIMARY CERTIFICATE <a href="https://teachcomputing.org/primary-certificate">ENROL HERE</a>

Teach secondary computing The <a href="https://teachcomputing.org/cs-accelerator">Computer Science Accelerator Programme</a> is a nationally recognised and certified professional development programme designed to equip colleagues in state-funded secondary, primary and middle schools, and state-funded FE colleges, with the subject knowledge and confidence to successfully teach GCSE computer science. You're eligible if you are: ·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;a trainee teacher (computing or otherwise, seeking additional specialism) ·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;supply teachers that regularly teach computer science ·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;returning teachers that will teach computer science ·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;serving teachers at state-funded schools (computing or otherwise) A bursary payment of up to £1100 is payable on successful completion of the programme. Once successful you can then work towards the <a href="https://teachcomputing.org/certificate/secondary-certificate">secondary certificate </a>to further develop your knowledge.

Run by a consortium made up of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.stem.org.uk/">STEM Learning</a>, the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.raspberrypi.org/">Raspberry Pi Foundation</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bcs.org/">BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT</a>, our vision is to achieve a world-leading computing education for every child in England.

Computing courses for teachers There are a range of free or low cost professional development courses, catering for all levels of subject knowledge, designed to help you teach computing, better. Courses can be completed online, remote or face-to-face. Isaac Computer Science At GCSE and A level, there is a a&nbsp;free online platform for students and teachers to use:&nbsp; ·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;in the&nbsp;classroom ·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;for&nbsp;homework ·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;for&nbsp;revision There are also free teacher CPD events and student workshops that can be attended. Current research suggests that physical computing will play an important role in modern pedagogical approaches, both as a tool to engage learners and as a strategy to develop learner understanding in more creative ways. The National Centre for Computing Education has developed a core Hub kit that can be loaned to schools. This guide has been developed to accompany the kit, and direct teachers to suitable resources.
