The National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE) is funded by the Department for Education and marks a significant investment in improving the provision of computing education in England.Run by a consortium made up of STEM Learning, the Raspberry Pi Foundation and BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, our vision is to achieve a world-leading computing education for every child in England.
What the NCCE aims to achieve
The NCCE aims to improve the expertise of computing teachers from primary to KS5 – so they are able to teach the new knowledge-based computing curriculum, and the new computer science content including at GCSE and A level.

We offer fully-funded consultancy and guidance to primary schools located in Local Authority Districts 5 or 6 through a network of computing education specialists, called Subject Matter Experts. Your local expert can help you to complete a three year action plan to improve your computing offer, and identify the most appropriate CPD to upskill your staff.

CAS Communities of Practice
Communities of Practice - run by Computing at School (CAS) - are local networks of computing teachers that share expertise, resources and best practice to encourage strong and effective teaching.

At A level, there is a a free online platform for students and teachers to use:
· in the classroom
· for homework
· for revision
There are also free teacher CPD events and student workshops that can be attended. To stay up-to-date visit the website.

SECONDARY CERTIFICATION
Certificate awarded by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT
The Computer Science Accelerator Programme is a nationally recognised and certified professional development programme designed to equip colleagues in state-funded secondary, primary and middle schools, and state-funded FE colleges, with the subject knowledge and confidence to successfully teach GCSE computer science. You're eligible if you are:
· a trainee teacher (computing or otherwise, seeking additional specialism)
· supply teachers that regularly teach computer science
· returning teachers that will teach computer science
· serving teachers at state-funded schools (computing or otherwise)
A bursary payment of up to £1800 is payable on successful completion of the programme. Once successful you can then work towards the secondary certificate to further develop your knowledge and skills.
