My journey to Ellis IslandLoading...
Dear Ammi,
I went to go on the boat to sail to Ellis Island. It felt crowded in the boat I think I was on the boat for at least 2 weeks or so. I really did not like being crowded so I tried to move around but I was stuck . In that same position I met a nice kind woman who gave me a loaf of bread. I wish you were with me because I don't know anybody. Also when I felt seasick that nice lady gave me some medicine.
Love, Aisha

Dear Ammi,
The arrival at Ellis Island was ok. Well thank goodness I was ok cause anything dangerous could happen. I was super tired because I stayed awake thinking what would happen. I already want to see Abbu I really miss him. I saw the Statue of Liberty, I was really happy and enjoying the view. Freedom for me has came back Ammi.

Dear Ammi,
I have now arrived in side of a building of Ellis Island and I had to go to the baggage room to put my bags away. I was walking past doctors I was wondering why they were looking at everybody carefully. The doctors did a 6 second investigation. I was fine I hope because I passed. Then I was in a room where people get inspected. I was nervous because I don't know how to speak english. It was my turn I saw some people get detained. I don't know what that means but I have a feeling that it's not good. There was a man standing next to me who helped me answer many questions I didn't know how to answer. They asked how old I was, that question was pretty easy but the more questions they asked the more I got confused. They also asked where I was from and why did I come to america ,also did I come here alone.

Dear Ammi,
I was detained. People who get detained have to stay in a big room waiting to see if they will stay or be sent back home. Now I am passing a lot of sights but instead of going any closer somebody taps me on the back. It was tall man he tells me to go wait in a room. I waited for at least 3 days in a room but each day the same nice lady came and gave me something to eat. I don't know what I'm waiting for maybe a doctor, maybe a person who is gonna sent me back, I don't know. I am nervous what if I have to go back home. But then sudden foot steps approach. It is a different man who looks familiar. He asked what was my name well I said my name. I finally recognized him, he's Abbu I found him! Ammi I can't wait until you come. I'm so happy that Abbu´s back!
