Introduction to Lunar New Year
The lunar new year is a very well-known festival that is celebrated worldwide.
This day occurs on different days of the year because it depends on the different phases of the moon. This year the festival falls on the 1st of February.
During this day people stay up late and have a feast with their relatives.
Additionally, there are lots of lion dance shows to watch all over the country.
It is also believed that making loud noises on Lunar New year's day is good because it scares away the monster, Nian.

Nian have sharp teeth and horns also some villagers would escape to remote mountains to avoid Nian's attack.

someone told that nian is scraed of red, fire and loud noises so people do it so that Nian will never ever came back.

at night when it was the full moon Nian came at the villagers place but then Nian saw the color of red on people house next people light up firework and make loud noises that make Nian scraed so Nian had to ran back and never came back to the villagers place.

For Chinese new year people usually eat fish to represent surplus, spring roll and dumplings look like gold bars so they eat these for the the new years eve dinner. Spring couplets are propitious verses written In black or gold ink written in red paper. it is to express sincere blessings and good wishes, people usually put it in their door stop . Chinese lanterns are hung to symbolize happiness and many believe it drive away bad luck.
