We looked at larger quantities of objects to see if we could spot smaller groups of 1s, 2s or 3s.

We looked at a subitising pattern and gave a thumbs up if it was 3 and a thumbs down if it wasn't 3. 

We can see 3 in lots of different ways within a group of objects.

We played 'Is it 2?' firstly as a whole class and then in small groups. We subitised and used our fingers to show our responses.

'I can see 2 dots. 1 is yellow and 1 is red' Alice

We talked about which parts were the same and which were different.

'The counters are in a line next to each other' Alice

Children used counters  to explore different spatial arrangements for 3 dots. They then worked with their partner to discuss what they could see. 

When 1 and 2 jump together they make 3.&#160;

Louie ' They are on top of each other. 1 add 1 makes 2'

We used our fingers to show different ways to make 3.

We matched subitising pattern cards to corresponding numerals.
