Hoot! Hoot! Goes the large owl The sound is like a welcome home howl I hear it when I walk to school, And then again at the swimming pool As I go throughout my day, The owl is always beside me when I play It cocks it’s head and looks at me Thinking what a great douo the two of us could be He whispers in my dreams and wakes me when it’s day He also accompanies me like a sun’s ray And at school, my owl sits beside me As I write my test, it sips its tea Hoot! Hoot! Goes the large wise owl as I lift my pencil The golden bird is no more then a stencil

If you know me well, talking about my worldview as a river is nothing new. Thinking about a river gives me a visual that is easy to explain to others. Instead of talking about my religion, hobbies or teachings from parents, this poem talks about how life is an uneasy river ride. I like to look at the bright side of things and enjoy a smooth easy ride. But that isn’t always so. Sometimes in life, you hit a waterfall or some sharp rocks, but what can you do? Get back up again!

I rise up en pointe See a world of elegance Lose balance and fall

To finish this book off, I summed up basically my entire poetry book into one poem. Because it’s my selfie poem, I’ve written all about me! I have included parts from each poem such as my obsession for owls, my love for the sea, my learning from parents, my religion and more! Each little section of the poem is almost like a min8 poem on its own. Each part gives an aspect of who I am, but together, they create a whole person and what is known as my worldview!

Because of my very busy lifestyle, I get stressed a lot when it comes to a homework time crunch. This poem talks about my pointe of view and what goes on through my head as I complete my assignments. Most teachers and parents don’t always see what goes on behind the scenes. This poem gives a pretty good idea of all the work that leads to the final product. I hope that through this poem, I can communicate to others how I feel when I do my homework and the stress that leads to the final product which gets handed in.

Me, running free along the beach The wind blowing my hair and whispering sweet words in my ears Birds chirping and calling my name from above Singing while they circle the sky A choir of baby ducks swim briskly past Their mother reprimanding the youngest one for falling behind I reach into my pocket and sprinkle the water with crumbs Each one landing, making elegant ripples in the clear water The ducks giggle with glee and excitement before moving on My feet feel the soft warm sand as it squishes beneath me With each step comes a new sensation of warmth I look out towards the ocean and see the welcoming waves They ripple and crash With each wave, comes a new embrace of welcome I slowly inch towards the ocean About to feel the cooling sensation of water But instead of hearing the waves or even the birds I hear my parents shouting at me to come back

If you know me well, you’d know that I am obsessed with owls. I used to carry around a pink owl notebook to school with me each day. This poem talks about how I am constantly surrounded by owls even if I can’t see them! Although to many people, this owl notebook is nothing more than a cheap journal, to me, it’s a real owl and a real companion. So as I move about my day with my « owl », at the end of the day to others, it’s no more than a stencil on paper.

This poem is based on activities I enjoy doing. Or in other words, my hobbies. Who knew that your choice of hobbies could shape the way you see the world? Both dance and soccer offer a competitive active lifestyle which gives me a competitive active worldview. I also learn a lot from my parents so one of my Haikus talks about me in my childhood, watching my parents and copying their actions.

I am a big fan of the Hunger Games series. I love the strong female character aspect and the action packed pages of this novel. Therefore, my found Poem is from one of the pages of the Hunger Games. Although the poem is short, it explains a lot about me. Everyday I put on my pants and boots because I hate skirts and dresses. My hair is long and tied back to keep it from my face. Just a description of my appearance tells people my outdoorsy and sporty personality. I then describe a gift that I cherish in my pocket. This gift is meant to be Gods love for me that I take with me wherever I go.

There are many ways to describe me And many are true And all of my descriptions help make up my worldview I am the girl who loves the ocean I am the one who loves the sea I am the one who hears the wind and birds singing sweetly to me I can hear the water’s welcome And the whisper in the wind I can hear my parents calling To me from the din Each week I go to church Each day I go to school I obey the Bible, my parents and teachers And follow the golden rule I view the world through elegance In which I learn through dance I also view the world as a competition Where one must take their chance I am the girl who loves the ocean I am the girl who loves sports Rather then being stereotypical I’d rather be a girl in shorts I am the girl who loves her friends, her parents and others I care for them, but okay, only sometimes by brother I am the girl who loves owls which are a big part of my worldview I talk about them, I watch them and I even write poems about them too As you can see, my worldview describes me Confident, friendly, stubborn and as special any human can be

Growing up by the ocean, I’ve always spent Summers paddle boarding and swimming and winters walking along the beach. My mom used to call me a mermaid, so of course, the ocean is another part of my worldview. My free spirit goes well with the oceans waves and the breeze. When I was younger, I would pretend that the wind, waves and birds spoke to me and were beckoning me towards the water. Although this poem talks mostly of my past, I still love the ocean and is therefore part of my worldview!

My extended metaphor poem talks about a bunch of doors. Each door holds a new adventure and journey. In life, more options or doors will appear, but some will close. This poem is about choosing the correct door. Sometimes in life, we accidentally close a door, however, once that opportunity is turned down, you may never get it again. As I wrote this poem, I thought about how this applied to my own life. Provincials was a possible once in a lifetime opportunity so I went for it. As I move throughout my life, more doors will appear. And as for my last door? Heaven!

My worldview is like a bunch of doors. Some stay open, and some stay closed. An open mind and growing mindset keep things open and flowing, but a wrong decision could close a door forever. I view my world as a list of doors where each one holds a new adventure. The more I keep open, the more I have to enter. And when I enter my final door, and meet my final breath. A new adventure still awaits me in heaven after death.

In my Simile Poem, I focused on my personal values and my religion. I talk about what my parents have taught me in my early childhood times as well as how my parents helped form what I now call my religion, Christianity. I also included some things that are part of my everyday life. Like most Christians, I pray, read the Bible and donate to charity. Christians nowadays however are less formal then say medieval times, but we still follow similar guidelines and habits such as the ones explained in my Simile Poem!
