Dogs like ice! Not to eat, but to run on. Back when there were no snowmobiles and aeroplanes, in the old days, dogs were the given mode of transport. When the sea ice freezes, the sea becomes one great road for dog sleds. Just the thing for a sled dog.&nbsp; The sea around Disko no longer freezes to ice; perhaps because of warmer weather? What is certain is that the ice from the inland breaks off and spills into the sea, stirring up the water so it cannot freeze over. What might the future look like for William’s dogs and the other dogs in the dog lot?&nbsp;

On the western coast of Greenland a young boy is dreaming of winning the national dog sledge race. An ancient form of transport that now has turned into a strongly competitive sport. The Race is a portrait of the 13 year old Nick who for the first time is participating in a race. His story is weaved together with that of 72 year old Ville Siegstad, a race legend whose life has become an inspiration for many young dog sledge drivers.
