"Hello, Dear Cli-Mates!" is an Erasmus+ KA229 project involving four partner countries: Romania, Italy, Spain and Turkey.
We also enriched the partners and project activities with new partners from different European schools through an eTwinning project that received the European Quality Label.
The aim of this initiative is to make children and young people aware of the effects of climate change and how to take action to reduce them.

This magazine is a joint product of all partner schools involved in the Erasmus+ project.

The objectives of our project

Our primary aim is to raise awareness of mainly pupils, teachers, schools staff and parents regarding causes, effects of
climate change and produce and act solutions accordingly at home and schools.

Besides, for pupils and teachers, we aim to:
- Develop foreign language and digital competence (web2.0 tools), research and presentation skills
- Promote intercultural communication and respect to diversity
- Be more independent and responsible European citizens dealing with global issues as climate change
- Enhance self-confidence,creativity, problem-solving skills
- Discover and share good teaching and learning practices to develop school education capacity
- Use and adopt interdisciplinary, outdoor, cooperative, experiential teaching methods to better European education
- Integrating climate change into curricula via lesson plans

About the Schools

The Schools involved in the Erasmus+ project

ALİ KUŞÇU İMAM HATİP SECONDARY SCHOOL is a public imam hatip lower secondary school located in Sultanbeyli, İstanbul. It is a large city school with 74 teachers, 1223 pupils aged 10-13 and 42 kindergarten pupils, who come from different social-economic and cultural backgrounds.
As for school strategic plan and vision, we aim to raise pupils as responsible citizens equipped with science-technology skills, academic success and moral values for a better future. Pupils and teachers are expected to enhance high respect and awareness to nature and cultural variety, develop digital, research and foreign language skills, feel as European citizens, eager in exchange of good practices and discover new methods for educational development.◾

Şcoala Gimnazială nr. 19 “Avram Iancu” - Timisoara
We are “Avram Iancu” No. 19 Secondary School from Romania.
We have the privilege of being situated in the Western part of our country, in the 2023 European Capital of Culture - Timișoara. Our mission is to have a modern and efficient school, community oriented, where education means a long term investment in children. Our school has got:
- 40 classrooms (54 classes)
- 2 gyms
- a school library with 15.000 books
- 4 sports fields

Istituto Comprensivo “Sandro Pertini” in Martinsicuro has about 1300 students, 3 - 14 years old (Kindergarten, Primary School and Secondary School); of these 440 do not have Italian citizenship.
The school has seven school buildings in two different areas.
Music is central part of our school life with a Choir and an Orchestra, singing and playing during the School year.
A variety of extra-curricular activities are offered to pupils such as the game
of Bridge, chess, bowls, tennis and padel.
Our involvement with Erasmus projects is proving to be a huge and successful investment in our teaching programme.◾

Q&A

WHAT OUR STUDENTS THINK

What activity did you enjoy the most? Why?
Fabiana (Italy): I loved visiting Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, because I felt closer to another culture.
Yavuz Ç. (Turkey): I enjoyed playing football the most because I think it allowed me to socialize
with different people from different cultures and made new friends, what more could I want.
Lena (Catalonia): My favourite activity was when the children from other
countries came here to learn new things from our country.
Bogdan (Romania): My favourite activity was going to Rome where I visited the tourist attractions there. It was an experience not many kids can say they've had.

What activity helped you raise your awareness about climate change?
Sara F. (Italy): visiting a recycling center made me realize how much litter we produce and dispose. I understood that the only solution is reducing waste.
Ceylinsu Ç. (Turkey): the teachers showed us a presentation and we played a kahoot contest about it. Then we wrote a story about climate change and made posters. But all this effort was not in vain, I told my family and friends that they could be more careful.
Anna (Catalonia): the visit to the water treatment factory in Tarragona.
Radu (Romania): neither the city exploration nor the environmental protection activities left much to be desired.

If you have taken part to one of the mobilities, what is the best memory you have from it?
Eleonora (Italy): my best memory about the mobility I joined is the Farewell party. In that occasion I realized that through one week I got close to my Hosting friend, to the people I met, to the uses and habits from that culture. I understood that, despite our differences, we are very similar boys and girls facing the world. I learned that we can be divided by the sea or by a country, but not by a wall.
İrem (Turkey): we had a party at home with our other friends, l had an ltalian meal there, it was very good! They also gave a concert for us, l had a lot of great memories there.
Oriol (Catalonia): one of my best memories is learning new words in Turkish.
Sofia (Romania): after leaving Turkey, not only was I left with unforgettable memories, but I also took over from the warmth of the people who treated us so nicely, without having any interest.◾
