All About Mrs. Wells

Hello!

My name is Mrs. Wells and I am so excited to be your teacher! This is my fourth year of teaching third grade. We are going to learn so much together this year.

I grew up in Meridian, Idaho and moved to Utah to attend BYU. I met my husband, Riley, there and we got married in 2017. Both of our families live in Arizona now and we like to visit them on holidays and over the summer.

Some of my favorite things to do are read, hike, bike, swim, travel, go to the movies, listen to music, and play video games. I love zebras, the color purple, Harry Potter, and eating ice cream. But most of all, I love spending time with my husband and our puppies, Frankie and Reeses!

Expectations for Students:
- Come to school prepared to work hard and learn!

When a student makes a kind or positive choice, they will be able to move their clothespin along the letters in our class that spells KINDNESS. Each time a students gets to the last "S" in "KINDNESS", they can choose a prize and add a paper chain to our class kindness chain.

When a student makes a choice that that breaks school or classroom expectations, we will have a one-on-one discussion and a consequence will be given based on the behavior. If a student continues to make poor choices, a Think Time form will be given.

Think Time is a time for students to reflect on their choices. A student who has received a Think Time form will go to another third grade classroom to fill it out and take a few minutes to cool down. the filled out form will be sent home for an adult signature and must be returned the following day.

Homework

Homework slips will be turned in on the last day of the school week
(typically Fridays).

Homework

Reading:

Students are expected to read for a minimum of 100 minutes a week. Write the number of minutes read each day on the appropriate book.

(For example, if your student read for 25 minutes on Monday, you would write 25 in the book above "Monday".)

Write the total number of minutes read on the bottom book.

Spelling:

A new spelling list will come home every Friday. Spelling tests will be the following Friday and another list will come home that day as well. Students should practice their spelling words enough to feel comfortable to test.

Math Facts:

Students should practice the math fact they are working on at school, at home. Examples of facts are +4, -2, and x5. Math facts can be practiced out loud, on paper, or even online.

Fridays

We are back to an in-person Friday schedule!
Friday hours are 9:00am to 1:00pm.
Lunch and bussing will be provided.

We will also have four "Flexible Fridays" this year. They will be on:

September 10, 2021
November 19, 2021
February 11, 2022
and April 29, 2022.

Students will not attend school in-person, but will be assigned work to complete at home.

All school supplies have been purchased and are ready for your student to use this year. To ensure we never run out, here is a list of items you can donate to our classroom. Since items may be used by all students, there is no need to write your student's name on the supplies.
