In the beginning the world and all creatures were new, animals were busy building shelters and scavenging for food. However, an Elephant and his friends Hyena and Giraffe weren’t. They were sat down talking to one another under the blazing hot sun of the African Savannah.
“I am getting vey thirsty, I am just going to go over to that water hole.” Said the Elephant.
“Don’t!” The Hyena in a high-pitched manner.
“Oh, please don’t!” Said the Giraffe in a grand tone.
He didn’t realise that his friends were warning him time and time again not to do it… no use it was to late the Elephant had already reached it and had a drink.
But before he could leave a selfish mean Monkey appeared out of nowhere. The Monkey cannonballed into the water and started crazily splashing around. He hissed, “Thissss isssss myy wateeer hollle!”

He stopped and bit into the Elephant’s trunk and stuck out his tongue then scurried away. That was when he decided it was time to leave. He went back to his friends and told them what had happened. They mentioned, “You shouldn’t of done that, we told you not to, but you didn’t hear us! Next time please try and listen to us.”
Back at home, he sat under tree. He thought of the past event, which was totally embarrassing, and the thought made him feel guilty. That was when a flash appeared. With a puff of smoke, a Genie showed up with a wide smile spread across his face. He told the Elephant that he will grant a wish to have big ears. He put his hands together and granted the wish. In an instant, the Elephant’s ears grew and grew. The Genie explained that the big ears would help him to hear other creatures’ advice. In the blink of an eye, the Genie was gone.
