The last (but not least!) category is the non-hyper category, which includes emotions that feel relaxed like contentment. This category includes the emotions neutral and regard. Neutral feels like a quiet, calm feeling. Regard feels a bit happy and includes the emotions compassion and generosity.

One extra tip: The cooldown method sweetspot ( The highest number you can reach before you do not want to calm yourself down) is at rank 6 / 10 or 7/10 where 1 is calm and 10 is meltdown. Cooldown methods can calm down 8 and above but at that point you do not want to help yourself. You are at a 6 or 7 when you are noticeably higher than a 5.

The hyper category has anger, overconfidence, and excitement. These emotions like to be active and are very energetic. For example, I get very mad when I'm angry. I lose my intelligence and I start acting very violent. My voice gets loud and my body wants to punch the thing that makes me mad. When I get mad my reptilian brain (basal ganglia and brainstem) takes over and my conductor (prefrontal cortex) goes out to lunch.

I think there are three kinds of happiness. When I feel mildly happy, I feel calm and happy, but not enough happy to make me dance everywhere. When I feel moderately happy, I feel happy without feeling hyper or calm. When I feel too happy, I am excited, which mean that I might lose control and my prefrontal cortext might go offline. Mild to moderate happiness is in the range of calm and good to feel.

When I feel sad, it feels like my body is frowning and I might cry. However, I haven't felt so sad that I started to cry but I have cried out of anger. When I feel distrust, I think, “A- ha! This guy is lying.” On my body, it also feels like a layer of plastic is covering me.

For example, when I'm scared, I think I could be scared too much, which would make me hyper, but I haven't had that experience yet. I can get mildly scared though, making me non-hyper. An example of that is my phobia of heights. If I am in a tall building and look out the window, I feel like I’m trapped in a layer of plastic that’s covering my body but not my head.

When I feel brave, I can be too brave, so I can do dumb things to prove I am brave like thinking I could go kill a dragon although dragons don’t exist*. On the other hand, being confident can feature taking a risk for something better like when I saved my friend from falling down the stairs by grabbing on to him.

These are the voices of all of the feelings that I have in my mind. The way I think about it is that the voices are split up into 3 categories: hyper, semi-hyper, and non-hyper. Hyper emotions are very excited. Semi-hyper emotions in some scenarios can be excited and in some they can be cool. Non-hyper are all cool. If you are an adult, these are the emotions you should show, even if you have other feelings inside you because if you show anger, people will think you're a child-adult (an immature adult in SEL). There is also a range from very comfortable to very uncomfortable feelings. Let’s learn more about each category.

Now, let’s talk about the semi-hyper category. The semi-hyper category has the emotions bravery, sadness, fear, happiness, and distrust. These emotions qualify to be semi-hyper because they can be both hyper and non-hyper in different scenarios.&nbsp;
