The Runaway

In the middle of New York, in a little grey apartment, lived a loving family of three. Their house as tiny as a shoe box.

They just moved to New York a couple months ago. In that family, was a little girl named Izzy. Izzy’s mom, and her dad. Izzy’s family was a little strict and they were very overprotective. Izzy was talking to her friends and listing to them, going on and on about an epic party they went to last night.

Izzy was a girl who did not do everything her friends could do, she could not go anywhere her friends could go. Her family had recently moved, so they were still getting settled in their house. While her friends were living in a huge house with their huge family, she had to babysit to earn more money. She felt uncomfortable having nothing common talk to her friends about, but she was getting use to it.

Izzy was talking to her friends, hearing them go on and on about how much
fun they had at the movies, while Izzy was dozing off. “Oh, hey, we better get going it’s getting pretty late,” Izzy’s friend said. “Your’ right we should head back” replied the other. “Where are you going?” asked Izzy curiously. “Oh , you don’t know? We are going to Abby’s party!” Izzy was so confused. How could they not even to tell her about the party earlier? Maybe it was because her parents never let her go to any late night parties.

Izzy looked through her tiny bedroom window, watching her friends walk farther into the distance. A few seconds later, they were gone. Anger and embarrassment filled Izzy, like a cup overflowing.They never let her go anywhere without their permission. Izzy was about to burst ‘this is so unfair!’ she thought to herself. Her feelings was about to burst like a dam overflowing. It was all their fault that she could never have fun. Her face was turning red. Her face was turning as red as fire. She was so mad and sad at the same time.

Izzy was about to burst out and yell at her parents with rage, but she stopped herself. She knew how they would react. So instead she opened their door trying to hide her real feelings. “Mom, Dad, my friends are going to a night party and I really want to join,” she said, as her hands shook and her breath was wheezing. “Sweety, you know you can’t go, so why do you even bother asking?” her mom said with her eyebrows raised. Izzy started to tear up.Izzy’s mouth felt dry, wet, cold tears started to flow down her cheeks, suddenly her eyes became red, red as a shiny apple, her face was bright red filled with rage, like the cartoons on TV. “How could you do this to me?” she screamed and slammed the door. As she ran to her room she could feel the tears spread across her warm, red cheeks.

Izzy tried not to think about how angry she was, but she could not help it. She was really angry at her parents. Izzy ran into her room and grabbed her bag and put it on the floor. She started putting anything she could find in there. If her parents could not do anything about this she could. She would run away to a place where someone could understand her. Not control her, like her parents do, A place where she could be free! Free like a bird.

As Izzy threw another thing into her fattening bag her hand got stuck! She pulled out the item in her bag, it was her old teddy bear! She forgot how much she had loved it! She used to play with it all the time. She never let it out of her sight. She remembered how happy she was when she first saw the teddy on her fifth birthday. She remembered what a big smile her parents had when she saw the tedd. They loved seeing her with that teddy and Izzy loved playing with it.
