There exists a small corner in our world somewhere along 51 North and 114 degrees West where a young boy used to live. His name was Henry. He lived a pretty normal life as a kid playing with his friends, going to school doing homework, playing sports and going to bed. And that was great but there was something he was yet to discover that help him throughout his life. He was pretty much just another kid in that tiny corner of our planet. However that wouldn’t alway be the case.

Henry eventually reached his teenage years and had to go high school. He kept playing sports but everything was changing. Everything got more serious and difficult and his old friends had suddenly felt like they’d disappeared. This would turn out to be one of the biggest changes in his life he ever go through.

On his very first day of high school he knew nobody. He’d seen some people elsewhere before but for the most part nobody. Henry’d just moved thousands of kilometres. Much of what he did was the same. And his little brother was still there to cheer him up. But it wasn’t the same.

The weather was different, the landscape was different, and he wasn’t a little kid anymore. The first few days of school were bad. It was just that nothing was ever said by him. Henry knew one person from his soccer team but only for a few weeks. The only time he felt normal was playing sports. It had always been his place. It kept him hopeful and happy.

Henry’d always been fond of golf, something up until now hadn’t been to common in his life. Yet life is full of surprises. He’d found out that the school had a golf team. And to make things better, one of the boys one his soccer team was an exceptional golfer.

This golfer had something, something Henry hadn’t seen before. A sort of skill that kept him on top of his work and golf. It was like this golfer had a sort of heightened productivity if you could call it that.

Henry had spent days trying to figure out what this mysterious skill was. However he was still shy from introducing himself to other people.

But after thinking about it, what better way to get closer to this other kid than by playing his sport. And thus Henry joined the golf team despite never having played an actual round.

The first team practice rolled around and everyone introduced themselves. Henry was out there almost struggling to hit a ball while he kept looking at the other kid who seemed to hit every ball to perfection. His name was Tom. After days being shy something had finally been done.

Every time this kid Tom hit a ball or talked about golf he seemed very happy. Was this his secret. He loved the sport. It seemed he would anything to go play his favourite sport. Some sort of dedication just oozed out from him. Could it be that being that dedicated to something help you keep on track. Henry hadn’t exactly been doing great in school. Especially juggling soccer and hockey with homework and a whole new view on education.

Although Henry wasn’t having the best time in school, he was becoming better and better friends with Tom.

Golf wasn’t his main sport but the enjoyment that Tom pulled from the sport was starting to invade Henry’s heart. He had a new sport that he loved.

Henry and Tom started hanging out more and more. They started playing together and soon enough had become best friends. They had found many things in common, golf, basketball, soccer. They were soon always together. And Henry started to learn about Tom’s skill. While becoming friends, henry had been falling behind while Tom kept on top of things.

After hours of talking and spending time together, Henry had figured it out. Tom would do his chores and homework first and then he would go do what he loved. His love for the game of golf was so great that he would was always determined to finish whatever to be able to play. He had found a drive years ago that would keep him on track. And that’s what Henry needed to do.

The end of the year came and they had to part ways until the start of the next year. Henry had found his passion though.
