The children noticed a very messy classroom, there was flour all over the floor (Miss Sim was not happy) and some ingredients left with a recipe to follow

At the end of the story the Gingerbread man has to stop at a river and looks for a way across. Mrs Wolfarth asked why he didn't swim? We weren't sure, so we decided to investigate, Mrs Wolfarth, put one of the spare biscuits in water and we predicted what would happen.

We joined the rest of Reception to take part in the harvest assembly. Mrs Haney explained to us why we celebrate harvest and we discussed bring in food for those that were struggling to buy enough for their families. Thank you for the donations. We danced to 'Dingle Dangle Scarecrow' pulling our our best scarecrow faces!!

We got to try a ginger bread man for snack time. Here is what we thought of them...

We checked on the Gingerbread man after lunch and a lot of our predictions were accurate. Mrs Wolfarth mixed the water and the wet, soggy GBM up and created a sloppy mess,.

Our topic led us to looking at Autumn, we investigated what happens during this season and used Autumn colours, fallen leaves to learn how to print as a media

At the beginning of the story the Gingerbread man runs away from Mr and Mrs Baker and it seems he visited reception again! 

We all had a go at building bridges to help the Gingerbread Man. Using different materials, some were long, tall and more stable than others!

Swimming is not a good idea, can you build me a bridge?

With the Gingerbread Man on the loose, we discussed how we could warn the rest of the school. The class decided to draw the Gingerbread Man so they could keep an eye out for him. We thought of some words to describe him.

This half term we started as strangers, but have become great friends,. We are looking forward to learning and growing together.

We have loved using the role play bakery throughout this topic, pretending to create our own baked goods and selling them.

Making of Gingerbreads We sifted the flour. added the 'smelly' cinnamon, cracked the eggs and gave it a good mix, before we each cut out our own gingerbread man. We then asked the kitchens if they could bake them for us....
