Hi! I'm Ms. Stephanie Settino, the Roots classroom teacher. Among many things, in our class we work on various developmental skills such as communication, social skills and life skills.

Here are some of the life skills that we work on throughout the year.

We have a bathroom in our classroom to help us practice some of these life skills, such as proper hand washing and brushing teeth.

The core vocabulary board along with other visuals are used on a daily basis. They are used to help our non-verbal students develop communication skills.

We learn through various songs during our morning circle time

Students have fun learning various things such as body parts, colors and numbers all while practicing their gross motor skills during our daily dance and movement lesson.

We learn about the different seasons and holidays throughout various art activities.

File folder games and task boxes are a great way to foster independence and to review skills. Many are errorless making students feel successful once they complete the activity.
