Types of animals tested on and how many animals die and suffer each year:
Rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats and mice are all used for testing of makeup products.
Dogs and monkeys are used for other testing of chemicals.
100,000-200,000 animals die and suffer each year from being tested on and over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned and abused in U.S. labs each year.
Things that scientists do to test the animals include: skin and eye irritants. The chemical is rubbed onto shaved skin or dripped into their eyes.
What scientists do to animals:
Animals are forced to swallow huge amounts of chemicals to test how much of the chemicals cause death.
These tests cause: considerable pain, blindness, swollen eyes, convulsions, organ damage, internal bleeding, sore bleeding skin, and death.
PAIN RELIEF IS NOT PROVIDED!
Up to 90% of animals were stolen for lab testing.
The three largest cosmetics markets: Europe, Israel and India have banned animal testing for cosmetics.
Humane Society says that a single pesticide requires more than 50 experiments and use of as many as 12,000 animals.
