Harvest

Harvest is important to give good food to people who might not have any.

We get to have fun, dressing up and having a laugh. Even the teachers join in.

Autumn Term

We started our school representative groups to ensure we are listening to our pupils and using their ideas to enhance our curriculum. We love making sure our pupils are learning about things that interest them.

The Reading Scrapbook

I really liked drawing pictures on my page.&#160;&#160;

The Reading Scrapbook is a way to share the books we love with our friends and teachers.

Other people give us ideas for what books to read next!&#160;

We get to include quotes of our favourite bits, like funny quotes and then we get to read our ideas out to the class.

Reception Visit to St Matthew's Church

We went to church and read stories about Mary and Joseph.

Reverend Kathryn showed us around.

I saw candles and a big cross.&#160;

I saw a picture on the window of Jesus as a grown up.

The Reading Suitcase

In Early Years and Year 1, we get so excited when we get to take the Reading Suitcase home!

I had it in Nursery and I cuddled my mum and read.&#160;&#160;

I drew a picture of my favourite character!

It's so good. We get to read and have a hot chocolate, a cuddle and&#160; a teddy.

Remembrance

We decorated poppies. They are to remember the soldiers who died.&#160;

It's important to give respect to the army who served for us and protected us.&#160;

After-School Clubs

We act out stories and do hot seating. It's lots of fun! We pretend to be characters from books we have read.

We have been using coding to control microbits. It's really easy once you get used to it.&#160;&#160;

I like competing in games and working as a team to win.&#160;&#160;

Other World Book Day Activities

We were very excited to win this prize from Joseph Coehlo. Year 4 have already nabbed a couple to read on World Poetry Day.

Nursery Trip To St Matthew's Church

Spelling Bee: Autumn 1

Each half term, a person who has worked really hard on their spellings received the Spelling Bee Award.

World Poetry Day

It was fun to try writing different types of poems like haikus.

My favourite part was reading the poems to my class.

Book Hut

Readathon and Joseph Coehlo

If someone doesn't have many books, this is good for them.

Books are really fun and you don't always have to be on a screen.

We took part in a Readathon. We raised money for books in Children's hospitals.&#160;

We got to read lots and raise money for our school and other children.&#160;

It's a really good idea for children to get a book token and be able to choose whichever book they want.

It was good to hear from a writer about how he does his writing and to see different types of poetry

I got a lot better at my times tables and I've kept going on it at home.&#160;

It was exciting because we didn't know who would win it! The leader kept changing all the time.&#160;&#160;

If you are a bully, you will get told off.&#160;&#160; If you bully it is not nice.&#160;

You should know that if you are a bully, it's never too late to change.&#160;

If you are being bullied tell the teacher or another trusted adult. Keep talking to them if it doesn't stop straight away.

I liked sitting in the rows.&#160; The roof was very high.&#160; There were candles all around.

TT Rockstars Challenge

World Book Day Costumes

I liked getting dressed up and walking around in the parade.

The best bit of World Book Day is getting dressed up.

You can show people characters that they don't know exist and teach them about new books.

Chinese New Year in EYFS

I liked trying the food. It was really good.

There were animals in the story. They had a race. The rat won by pushing the cat in the water.

Book Club

I like it because we get to read new books.

You get a chance to read in whatever way makes you feel comfortable, happy and calm.&#160;

I found it easier to run with a friend so we could help each other out.&#160;&#160;

I'm always excited to go. Me and Kofie go together and my mum reads to me.&#160;&#160;

I got the Stickman book.&#160; I liked it when the dog chased him. That's a funny part.

I read with my mummy, my daddy and my brother.

There is a chocolate and a teddy doggy inside.

Year 1 Visit to Halifax Minster

It was a really good trip. Harrison got dressed up in a choir costume - he was very warm!

We did a treasure hunt and had to search the Christmas trees. There were 15 trees!

We read a story about Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus.

We made fairies out of pegs and lacey paper.

Judaism Talk by Ivan

It was fun to learn about another religion. We found out a lot about Shabbat and Hanukkah

He was really good and it was kind of him to go into every class.

I liked looking at the Hebrew letters and trying to say 'Shalom'. Did you know they read from right to left?

Reading Cafe

It was lovely to have parents come and join us for a relaxed, afternoon reading session.

Spelling Bee

It was so fun to play games, dress up and see all my friends.&#160; I'm very grateful to the staff for giving us a chance to do that.

I was dressed up and dancing. Then we played spooky pass the parcel.

Phunky Foods

Our Phunky Food ambassadors lead assemblies and help us get our bodies moving so we can be our healthiest selves. 

Reading Ambassadors

I like their assemblies and when they come to talk to us in the classroom.

It's important to show children that they need to exercise for their mental health, to keep their heart healthy and to help them concentrate.

Cross Country Final

Year 6 Football Tournament

It was great to play different teams. We won a few games and would love to do it again.

It was scary because there were lots of people to race against.&#160; But it is fun to run around and it feels good to be taking part, even if you don't win.

Breakfast with Books

I read with my mummy and I ate a croissant.&#160; It was nice.&#160;

I like reading Elmer. Today I read with my brother and my mummy.

People get the chance to read books with their breakfast. Sometimes you don't get time to read with your mum in a morning.

I had a brioche and croissant and I read books. My favourite one is Elmer. I love them all though.

Christmas Advert Day

Dressing up was fun and I kept going on the computer every day until I reached the maximum 60 minutes.&#160;&#160;

It was fun to write a diary for the boy. It would be crazy to have a venus fly trap as a Christmas tree.

It is fun to do something unusual in literacy. It makes writing fun.

I really liked watching the John Lewis advert. The snapping Christmas tree was funny.&#160;

It's fun playing the recorder but it can be tricky!

I like it very much because we get to run around.&#160; We get to make home runs and bat.&#160;&#160; Sometimes you end up being out but you always come back in.

Computing club is really fun because you get to try out new coding equipment and programs you've never used before.&#160;&#160;

I love playing the recorder and think I've made a lot of progress because I don't squeak anymore!

Cross Country Stage 2

I had to stop and catch my breath in the middle field. I felt like I was going to pass out but I came 17th out of 60 and would do it again!

It was very hard but I got into the finals. I felt very proud of myself.&#160;&#160;

Lilly brought some new books for us to read. There were unicorns, princesses and fairies.&#160;&#160;

It made me happy to see the ambassadors, we read lots of books together.&#160;&#160;

I enjoy helping the little ones to read. They're very polite and well behaved.

Buddy Reading

Our classes loved spending time together and sharing books on World Book Day.

You get to learn what other children like in other classes. I got to read with a Star Wars fan.

I liked entertaining the younger kids and it made them happy.

Anti-Bullying Week

Bullying can happen online and it can be hard to stop because you might not know who it is.

It's good to be aware of what bullying is and how to stop it.

Cross Country Stage 1

It was exciting to give it a try but it was very hard work!

All of KS2 were given the chance to qualify for the inter-school cross country competition. We were so impressed by the effort and determination of everyone who took part.

Everyone supported each other and cheered for each other - especially when we ran up the big hill!

Children In Need

We got to dress in non uniform and donate to help other people. I think it is fun but also kind to do it.

We helped the children. We are kind to people and want to help them.

We raised money for children who don't have as much as us so they can eat and get medicine.

Each year group chose an author to focus on.

I loved opening the box to find our new book. It was an exciting mystery.

I like being able to choose some new books to read with my mum. We love reading together.

The children love having their parents come into school and it adds an extra element of excitement to reading.

Gurdwara

Spring Term

I liked learning about the different rituals and the 5Ks. It was good to see the artefacts on display.

It's lovely that they allow anyone to go if they need shelter or help, even someone from a different religion.

The langar was delicious and different. It was great to experience vegetarian food.
