Days, months and years passed and everyone continued to live their lives. But while they all lived quietly thinking about one’s own business, time passed and the inhabitants began to resume the habits of before were so taken from their busy life that they no longer went to the park with the children.

The constructors said that they had to pluck the old oak and some more trees, so they can have more space.

When all the population saw the flyers, they were furious. They didn't want to believe that they could lose that green area which was so important to their city. They decided to go with Aron, Alice and all their friends and talk to the mayor.

Furthermore, each week the children made a commitment to go to the park all together to collect the waste to keep it clean and then, at the end of the work, to play under the big oak tree.

One day, while they were lying down, two men arrived and said: "We will cut down this tree and all the other trees in the park so we could build a new parking area!".

Separate collection became a goal for all inhabitants because they realized that it was important to maintain a clean environment.

The teacher suggested spreading flyers around the city to appeal to everyone to help protect the park and the old oak tree. Aron and Alice decided to speak to their parents and in two days they managed to gather 42 people who helped them spread the flyers.

The years passed … and the village changed: where before there was countryside then there was a big city.

The next day Alice and Aron went in the park and with great surprise they saw that the great oak was losing all the leaves and they with so much concern they wondered, what was going on. Suddenly they heard a voice saying: - I'm so sad and I'm losing all my leaves, because I’m dying. The two young amazed discovered that was the big oak to speak, and so they asked why all this was happening to her. The great oak answered: - Long since nobody comes to play anymore under mine crown, not even the birds come to sing on my branches, and I’m getting older I feel so alone and abandoned.

The large oak tree with its mighty branches seemed to smile happily at seeing the city changed and the inhabitants put so much attention and care towards the environment.

The children, but not only the grown-ups, were very happy to ride the streets of the city by bicycle.

The worried citizens stopped a moment to reflect, and so they decided to stop and spend some time not only to their life, to their children but also to all plants, so from that moment they stopped one day a week and they all went to the park and all the children played around the trees

The next day, Aron and Alice went to the teacher trying to solve the problem.

When the two men saw the to flyers, they started to rip them out. Seeing that, Alice and Aron thought that it was better to call their friends who wanted to protect the trees and the forest to held a protest. They called Diogo, Érica, Rita, Mafalda, Maria Leonor and many others, even the teachers!

The air seemed more breathable, cleaner, clearer every day ... flocks of birds circled happily in the blue sky!

In hearing that danger, all the trees shivered. Suddenly the oak tree became sad and worried; all the birds stopped singing and began to flew around Aron and Alice to ask help. The two children understood that there was something to fight, there was to defend the only city park … above all there was to save the big oak tree: it was very important for them; it was their friend.

They went to the Mayor and they proposed to make a press release to put knowledge all citizens of what was going on to the great oak and that within a short time even all the other plants would have fallen ill like the big oak.

The city seemed transformed, it was no longer gray and dark but green like an immense garden.

At the mayor he liked the idea and so not only made the press release but he put up posters throughout the city, where he informed all citizens, remembering all the sacrifices they had made to have a clean city full of plants.

When they reached the mayor, they complained about getting less oxygen if the trees were cut down. So, the mayor went to talk to those people and told them to build the park elsewhere!

The car traffic increased and the air became unbreathable.

The big oak happy to see again all citizens serene and carefree in the large park from joy its branches they began to sprout again and the birds went back to singing on its branches

So, the mayor, touched by the children's request, decided to keep the old oak tree upright so that the birds could make their nests and the children could play around the tree under its shade.

There was still a park in the city center where all the children loved to meet and play.

The mayor was impressed by the children, especially by Aron and Alice, who managed to convince many people. He promised to plant more trees in the park, but also in the other parts of the city.

In the afternoon, after school, Aron and Alice always met in the park. There stood a big oak tree right in the centre of the park. It was an old and strong oak tree and it seemed to protect them with his branches. Aron and Alice liked to lie under his shade. The children called it ”the bird of house” because that birds built nests in his branches and sang all day.

Aron and Alice said to the great oak: - You are happy? We all promised not to repeat the mistake. the tree replied: - My dear boys, I will be forever grateful to you, many years ago you saved us from pollution and now from solitude, thank you! You are the hope of our future. From that day on, children with their parents, every weekend, instead of staying home to play with video games, mobile phones and more they went to the park to take long walks, play and make all plants happy, and thus saved our beloved ecosystem.

Above all, the inhabitants had changed: they were more educated, more respectful of the environment, more careful not to pollute. For all this they thanked the children who had been brave.

... there was a little nice village … there were only a few houses and all around there were many fields and green meadows; in the background were hills covered by woods. Above all, the blue sky shone.

Aron, Alice and the other children were very satisfied because they had managed to save their beloved oak but, above all, to raise awareness among adults about the great problem of the environment.

Alice and Aron had grown up and they too they no longer went to the park, but one day they met and thinking back to when they were children they had the desire to visit the great oak and so they did.

You are not too young to do big things

Then, Alice and Aron who were with the mayor told them that if they cut the old oak, the birds could no longer make their nests there.

He also listened to the advice of specialists. They considered that the electric buses will greatly reduce the pollution of the city and the bicycle lanes will encourage the citizens to use this means&nbsp;of in transport more.

Aron, Alice and all the children were very happy with the mayor’s decision to preserve the environment.

The men cut down trees to built large buildings.

Days, weeks, months passed and along the roads and in the park many new trees and many colorful and fragrant flowers began to grow.
