In this picture there are three adults to two children. The ratio of adults to children in fraction form is 3/2.

In this picture there are two girls to three boys. The ratio of girls to boys is 2:3 using a colon.

Charlie and Joe are at a baseball game. They notice that there are baseballs and bats laying on the ground in the dugout. Charlie says the ratio of baseballs to bats is six to seven.

When writing ratios you need to make sure to write it the way the question is asking. If the question was asking 'What is the ratio of bats to baseballs?' and Joe said 6:7 still he would be incorrect.
