INTRODUCTION

The project aims at enhancing the value of traditions and cultural roots and European identity at the same time.
Pupils and teachers from Poland, Turkey, Italy, Spain and Romania in fact could compare costumes and traditions in Europe, developing linguistic and digital tools.
Participating schools range from the primary to the secondary cycle.
These are the goals which have been achieved:
- to improve language skills (writing, reading, listening and speaking English)
- to develop ICT skills through using them in the project
- to broaden pupils’ knowledge about holidays and festivities in different countries
- to develop intercultural awareness by learning about traditions in different countries
- to see the same festivities from different perspectives
- to inspire others and to get inspired by others
- to experience the power of international teamwork
- to learn about different countries
- to encourage pupils to be creative.

The town
Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto is situated in the North-East of Sicily (Southern Italy). It has got about 50.000 inhabitants.
Its landscapes range from the hills to the seaside.
Project participants
Pupils who took part to the project attend the first year of Scientific Lyceum, Applied Sciences department (1F class).
They are 13-14 years old.
This is a family group of this school year 2017-2018.
TOPICS
From December 2017 to June 2018 the most important festivities celebrated in Italy have been analysed by the pupils.
CHRISTMAS
Using the digital story-telling, pupils tell the traditions linked to the most important festivity in the Christianity. It takes in Italy almost two weeks, it starts from the Christmas Eve and ends with the Epiphany.

CARNIVAL
It is the funniest and most colourful festivity for both adults and children.
Celebrated in February , it is characterized by floats, parades, costume parties. The most famous ones are in Venice and in Sicily (Acireale).
Pupils summarize the best Italian traditions by means of Adobe Spark video recording their own voice.
