Why choose Scratch?
Scratch is a fun and easy way for our young individuals to experience what coding is. It will teach them the basics of animation in a simple format!
It will consist of experimenting with different 'blocks' in order to achieve the outcome desired!

Key vocab when using Scratch:
'Motion' - these blocks will tell Scratch what to do.
'Looks' - these blocks will tell Scratch how you want him to act.
'Sound' - these blocks will alter the sound that you have inputted.
'Events' - these blocks are used to give a response to a stimulus.
'Control' - these blocks allow Scratch a time-frame to do the action as well as an alternative option.
'Sensing' - these blocks are used to show the interaction between the curser and a stimulus or to use detection.
'Operators' - these blocks are used to create equations in relation to math.
'Variable' - these blocks are used to store key information that need to be remembered.
'Sprite' - this is the picture that you're coding/manipulating.

How to start
First of all, Scratch is based on trial and error - this is how we learn. But, as a general rule, you should begin with the command 'when clicked' under the 'events' option. This allows you to control when the 'Sprite' begins to do something.
Next, you should try the commands under the 'Motion' section. Have a play around!
What do I do if i need to remove a command?
If you need to remove a command in your code - simply right click your mouse/touch pad and select the delete option. This should remove it with ease.
What do I do if I accidentally delete my Sprite?
No worries! You should look in the bottom right hand corner, and look for the blue 'cat' looking button, it will also have a '+' symbol too. When you click this, many Sprites will appear. Select the one you would like to use.
