Bristol is a city in South West England, with a population of 463,400. The wider district has the 10th-largest population in England. The city lies between
Gloucestershire to the north and Somerset to the south. South Wales lies across the Severn estuary.

Bristol is one of the UK's most popular tourist destinations and was selected in 2009 as one of the world's top ten cities by international travel publishers, and named as the best city in Britain in which to live in 2014 and 2017. Bristol also won the European Green Capital Award in 2015.

Climate

It can be quite wet in Bristol - especially in Autumn and Winter. It's always a good idea to have an umbrella handy. In the spring and summer it is usually nice and warm. Sometimes in summer it can be up to 25 degrees which feels really hot.

My favourite season is spring because there are lots of flowers then. Bristol has lots of parks and green spaces so it is a nice time to visit.

Clifton Suspension Bridge

The Clifton Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Avon Gorge and the River Avon, linking Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset. Since opening in 1864, it has been a toll bridge, the income from which provides funds for its maintenance.

Stokes Croft

Stokes Croft is an interesting and culturally diverse area in Bristol. It is the home to some great street art.

Park Street

Park Street and Queen’s Road boast a great selection of trendy boutiques, music and book shops, bars, clubs and restaurants, as well as being perfect for sightseeing with their iconic buildings.

Ashton Court Estate

The Ashton Court Estate is a historic park just 10 minutes from the centre of Bristol, covering 850 acres of woods and grasslands.

Castle Park

Castle Park offers a blend of past and present, from the remains of a great medieval castle to the nearby bustle of a modern city centre.

The Harbourside

Once upon a time, Bristol harbourside was an important dock for trading and for setting sailing on great adventures! Now people go there for restaurants, bars and hotels.
