Head of School Welcome
Dear parents and carers,

We hope your children have had an enjoyable and successful half term here at TLA. It has been very busy, with some great visitors and trips too. Many thanks to Liam from LJD coaching, who has worked with every class in the school at least twice and has inspired many of our girls to take part in football.

A huge thank you to you parents for keeping our site safe by parking off site and walking in. This is much appreciated and I thank you in advance for continuing this moving forward.

It is with great sadness that I share the news that Mrs Morgan will be leaving us at the end of this half term. I'm sure you will all agree that she has been an asset to the school since joining us almost three years ago. Mrs Morgan will be going to work for the trust's central finance team as she furthers her career, and we wish her every success in her new role. Please read on for an introduction to our new administrator Mrs Knowles.

Have a lovely half term break and we'll see the children back bright and early on Monday 19th February!

This term Nursery have been learning about 'things that go', such as cars, trains and planes. They have also engaged in a topic called Emergency! As part of this topic the children made models of fire engines and ambulances and also created a large fire engine to enhance their role play experience.
The nursery were also lucky enough to participate in a football skills session with an external sports provider which helped to develop their body control and movements.
Reception have been enjoying their topic 'Ready, Steady, Go!' this half term! We have been exploring planes at Newquay airport and have met a real police officer at school. We have been reading and writing about lots of transport-themed texts, and we particularly liked 'The Hundred Decker Bus' - we even made our very own hundred decker bus which is on display in our classroom! In maths, we have been consolidating our number bonds to 5, and have been learning about the numbers 6, 7 and 8, as well as exploring mass, capacity and length. Alongside this, we have been learning about the emergency services, maps, and Tim Peake's adventures in space! Well done Reception, we are looking forward to seeing you all after half term!
Year 1
Year 1 have had a busy half term! In Science we have been looking at materials that make up our every day objects and then we learnt about their properties. We tested how waterproof some of the materials were in our experiment and discovered that plastic was the best material to make an umbrella for Beegu! Beegu would have needed her umbrella when we had our little flurry of snow. We had fun outside for the short time it lasted!
In PE we were lucky enough to have some football training from LJD coaching where we practised travelling with the ball, whilst changing direction and speed. The children showed wonderful listening skills and it was great fun. There are definitely some budding football stars of the future in year 1!
