History says that the ancient Egyptians were the first to celebrate a birthday. Later, this tradition began to spread to neighboring states. Only pharaohs, kings and their male heirs had the right to celebrate a birthday. The day of the girl's birth was not even recorded. The first woman who was given the right to celebrate her birthday was Queen Cleopatra II (II century BC).

In the ancient world, as in the early Middle Ages, birthday celebrations were not given much importance. Most of the people did not use calendars and did not celebrate their birthday. And the life of an individual was not valued so highly as to arrange a holiday in his honor. Birthdays in Egypt are also celebrated more modestly than ours.
