The Doll Named Githin

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;It was coming closer. The black figure. Max could not see the thing’s face, but he could make out that it was tall and thin. It was coming closer and closer. Max looked around. He was in his house, but it was burning. Thick black smoke engulfed the room while debris fell all around Max. He had to get out! Max saw the front door. He ran as fast as his legs could carry him. The black figure grabbed him! Max saw a mouth filled with rotting, yellow teeth. Max was being lowered into its mouth...CLANG! &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Max woke up sweaty with shock. His parents were in the basement, fixing a water pipe. The clanking of metal must have taken him out of that nightmare. Max got out of bed and headed downstairs. He brushed his teeth and then poured himself a bowl of cereal. After breakfast, he decided to visit his old house. Max yelled, “Bye Mom! Bye, Dad!”&nbsp; His parents said, “Have a safe trip!” Then, he drove off.

Joshua Llamas's first published book, The Doll Named Githin, has received high praise among his classmates for its spooky storyline and amazing pictures. Joshua's favorite character in the story is Githin because Githin was a horrifying character to write about and to draw. Joshua loves to write scary stories. His favorite illustration is the fifth illustration because he loves how Githin is towering over Max. Joshua Llamas goes to Patrick Henry Middle School and lives with his family.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Max got to the house. He looked up at it. The house’s walls used to be bright yellow, but over the years of destruction, the walls were left with a dingy gray. The door’s paint was no better. It was peeling off the door and the doorknob was rusted. The house itself was falling apart, but Max remembered there had been some items like boxes full of things inside before his parents moved out. Max went in and decided to look at the old junk in the house and see what he could find. A few hours had passed and Max was almost done exploring the old house. He only had one room left, the attic. He went up into the attic. It was very dirty, and so far it was the most destroyed room in the house. Surprisingly, the boxes inside the attic were perfectly fine. Some were a little beat up, but that was it. Max opened one box labeled “OLD THINGS”.&nbsp; Inside there were old toys. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;One toy in particular looked like a little clown doll. Max picked the doll up. A note fell out of the doll’s hand. Max picked it up. It read, “My name is Githin. Let’s be friends.”&nbsp; “Hm,” Max thought. “What a weird name. Guess Githin is your name though. I will take you home.”

Max decided to take Githin and a couple of other things with him too. He got in the car, put all of the stuff inside, and drove off back to his house. When he got to his house it was night.&nbsp;He went to sleep.&nbsp; Max was in his house again. It was not burning this time. His house looked the same, but darker and more eerie. Max heard footsteps above. Then, he heard a loud shatter. It sounded like glass was breaking. He went to the second floor. It was coming from his room.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The door to his room was boarded up and it had a note that said, “DO NOT ENTER.” Max went to the basement. He needed to find out what was inside. He got the hammer from the basement. Max went back to his room and pulled the boards off the door. He entered the room. Max’s room had been trashed! His bookshelf had been toppled over, his bed had been chopped into pieces, and the room’s floor was covered in broken glass, books, and collectibles.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The window was shattered. Max looked outside and saw something colorful running away, but he could not see that much of the thing in the dark. He saw something in the grass. It was an ax. Max heard something, it was a creak in the floor. The floor in the room immediately broke and Max started falling. He landed on a cold, rocky floor. A pair of glowing red eyes opened in the pitch-black room. BEEP BEEP BEEP!

Ginger asked, “Max, is everything okay?”&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Max yelled, “My parents are missing! I don’t know what happened!” Max started to worry. His parents were missing! Jack stayed quiet during the whole situation.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;“Guys. Let's check Max’s room. Maybe his parents are there,” Jack said.&nbsp; They went to Max’s room. They opened the door and shock flooded their faces. The doll, Githin, was standing up. He was not facing the three friends. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Nobody said anything for a good five seconds. Then, Githin turned around.&nbsp; Githin said in a faint whisper, “Hi. My name is Githin. Want to play?” Githin then started to turn into something. His body grew thinner, his hands turned into claws, and his mouth opened to reveal sharp, rotting teeth.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Max screamed, “What is that thing?!”&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;“I have no idea,” said Ginger.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Jack yelled, “I think it is that doll Max was talking about! The doll named Githin!”&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Githin shrieked, “LET’S&nbsp;PLAY!”

&nbsp;The friends were teleported to the house, but it was falling apart and burning.&nbsp; Ginger shouted,&nbsp;“What is this place?!”&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Jack screamed, “I have no idea!”&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Max shouted, “Look! Githin is coming!” Githin was crawling on the ceiling.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;“STAY WITH ME FOREVER,” Githin screamed.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Max exclaimed, “We need to find a way to destroy this evil creature!”&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;“Of course we do! That is probably the only way to get out of here,” shouted Ginger.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Githin exclaimed, “YOU CAN’T LEAVE ME! THIS IS WHERE YOU WILL STAY FOREVER! AND I WILL LIVE FOREVER!”&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Githin shrieked! He shrieked so loud that the house started to collapse! &nbsp;Jack said, “We need to burn Githin! Maybe that will do the trick!”&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Ginger said, “Yes! That must be it, but we need to hurry! This house is falling apart and if we want to survive, we need to get out!”&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Max shouted, “Well let's stop talking and start taking action!”&nbsp;

Jack found three busted up frying pans in the burning kitchen. He handed one to Ginger and one to Max.&nbsp; Jack yelled, “Hit Githin with it! Try to get him into the fireplace! That is where we can trap him!”&nbsp; Max ran to the fireplace. “Hey Githin! Over here you dumb doll! You want me? I am over here,” Max yelled.&nbsp; Githin screamed, “WHAT DID YOU SAY?! NOW GITHIN IS MAD!” Githin started crawling to Max and then jumped! Max, Ginger, and Jack all hit him with their busted frying pans. They all hit him on the head too!&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Githin only felt a little bit of pain and the frying pans broke immediately after, but it was enough to get Githin inside the fireplace.&nbsp;

Ginger yelled, “Hurry close the gate and lock it! Keep Githin inside!” Max closed the gate and locked it. Githin slammed its fists against the metal door.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Githin shrieked his final words, “NO! LET ME OUT! I WILL BE BACK!”&nbsp; Githin started to melt into nothing. The three friends got teleported back to the house when half of Githin’s face was melted. In that quick second, Max saw a flash of a black, shadowy figure coming from Githin’s body.&nbsp;

They are back in Max’s room. The doll named Githin was nowhere to be seen. Max and his friends checked Max’s parents’ bedroom. Max’s parents were there! Max was so relieved! In the moment of happiness, Max realized something. Githin’s name meant something. If spelled in the correct order and removing one ‘i’, Githin spelled Thing.

&nbsp;&nbsp;Max woke up, startled by his alarm clock. It was Sunday. He looked around the room. His eyes landed on Githin. “Just a doll,” Max thought. Max remembered that he invited his friends, Ginger and Jack, over to play video games on Sunday. He went with his family to the local church for mass. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;After mass, it was time. “Ginger and Jack should be here any minute now,” Max said in his mind. Soon, Max heard a car outside. Ginger and Jack were here! Max turned on the Xbox that sat on the little bookshelf right below the television. Max ran to the door and opened it.&nbsp; Max said, “Hi guys! Want to play some Simber?”&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Ginger and Jack both exclaimed, “Sure!”&nbsp; The three friends sat on the living room floor and played lots of rounds of Simber.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;“Hey guys, Simber is like the coolest game ever,” said Jack.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Ginger exclaimed, “You got that right!” &nbsp;After a couple of rounds of Simber, Max led his friends to his room. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;“There is a doll that I found in my old house. A note said its name is Githin’” said Max. As soon as he said that, the friends heard some thumping coming from Max’s room.&nbsp; Max yelled, “Mom? Dad?” There was no answer. Max ran to his parents’ bedroom. They had gone to sleep right after mass to take a nap. When Max checked the bedroom, there was nobody there.
