How the Tiger got its stripes.

At the beginning of time, when the world was first created, all of the predators living in the rainforest relied on their camouflage to catch prey. However, there was one predator who couldn’t blend in. The Tiger had orange fur all over, razor sharp teeth and was a young cub. Every time he became closer to his prey, it would see its orange fur and make it away with no problem.

Early one Monday morning, a Leopard -yellow and spotted- elegantly walked over to the Tiger “Hello Tiger.” She said in a sophisticated tone. “Come and hunt with all the predators.”

“I can’t hunt!” replied the Tiger.

“How can that be” thought the Leopard after racing off to tell the others.

A few hours later, a Panther, which was carrying a dead bird in its mouth, passed by “Good afternoon.” He spoke in a deep wallowing voice. “Come and kill birds with the rest of us.”

“I can’t hunt!” the Tiger shouted getting even more annoyed.

Offended and speechless, the panther raced off to tell the others. The next morning, a Jaguar ran past bouncing up and down. “Do you want to come and hunt with us?” he asked.

“No! No! No! I can’t!”

The Jaguar went to tell the others.

That night, all of the predators gathered together to think of a plan to fix the problem. Someone suggested catching prey for the Tiger but no one liked that idea. Finally, after one hour they came to an agreement: when he was asleep they would use mud and paint stripes all over the Tiger.

After that meeting, they carried out their plan and in the morning the Tiger was surprised to see his new stripes. Surprised, relived, exited, the Tiger was ready to hunt camouflaging into its surroundings. From that day to this, the Tiger will always have stripes on his orange fur and now is able to hunt freely.
