Book Creator Teacher Guide

Changing Settings for Library

1. Open the library and click the settings gear

2. Change any settings by moving the toggle buttons

3. Settings will automatically be saved; click the X to exit the menu

Note: These settings can be changed at any time. You may want to start with students not able to see each other's books. Once the library is published, you may want to turn off the students' ability to edit their books.

Note: The option to allow students to collaborate is not available on the Free Account

Archiving a Library

1. In the Teacher Dashboard, click the 3 dots for the library you want to archive

2. Select "Archive library" and then "Archive"

Note: You can also archive from the settings gear when the library is open

Note from Book Creator: Once archived the library will not be accessible by other students or teachers (unless published). You will still be able to access its books and any books that have been published will still be available online.

Inviting Students to a Library

1. Open the library and click on "Show invite code for others to join"

2. Copy the code and share with your students - protect this code!

3. To stop new users from joining your library, click "Expire this code." You will be able to create a new code to share if you wish to invite students again.

This student guide will help students join your library and start creating books!

Inviting Co-teachers

1. Share the invite code with the teacher (directions are on page 11) and ask the teacher to join the library as a teacher

2. After the teacher has joined the library, open the library and click the down arrow under the library name

3. Find the teacher's name under the "Author's" list and click the 3 dots

4. Select "Promote to co-teacher" (teacher must be signed up as a teacher)

Note: This feature is not available for Free Accounts.

Enabling Collaboration

1. Open the library and navigate to the book you wish to enable collaboration

2. Click the share button

3. Select "Collaboration"

4. The default setting is for everyone in the library to be able to edit the book. To change this so that only certain students can edit the book, click "Change" to select the students.

5. Click "Start collaboration"

To stop collaboration, follow steps 1-3 and then click "Stop collaboration".

Publishing The Library

1. Open the library and click the settings gear and then "Publish library online"

2. Edit the name and description; choose your background

3. Select the permissions

4. Select the subject(s)

5. Select the grade(s)

6. Click "Confirm and publish online"

7. Share the link with your audience. The settings can be changed at any time (including to stop publishing) by clicking the settings gear.

Creating Templates to Remix

1. Create the book that will be used as a template.

4. Click the toggle button to turn remixes on.
5. Click "Publish."

2. In the library view, click
(share icon) under the book.

3. Select "Publish online."

6. On the next screen, click "Copy link"
7. Share this link with your students - they will be able to click "Remix" to add a copy to their library that they can then edit.

Adding Comments for Students

1. To add comments in students' books, click the "Show comments" button in the bottom right corner.

2. Click "Add comment." You can add text, emojis, video, audio, GIFs, or stickers as comments.
3. Enter your comment and then click "Post."

4. Click the 3 dots to edit or delete your comment.

6. Students and teachers can select a reaction emoji on comments (even if student commenting is disabled).

Note: To stop students from being able to comment, click settings gear icon and move the toggle over.

App Smashing

To enable apps in Book Creator,
1. Click the 3 line menu (the "hamburger")
2. Click "Apps"
3. For the app(s) you would like to enable, click the in the right hand corner of the app card
4. Change settings, including if you would like the app to be enabled for certain libraries

To use the apps while creating in Book Creator,
1. Click the plus sign (to the left of the "i")
2. Select "More"
3. Click on the app you wish to use

Note: Review the privacy details of each app prior to adding them to libraries for student use. Some apps have age restrictions.
