IMPACT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON DIFFERENT SECTIONS OF THE SOCIETY

The current situation of the pandemic has brought a threat to the plate of our average lifestyle. This has become so globally life-threatening and challenging. The World Health Organisation says the coronavirus pandemic is the "defining global health crisis of our time", capable of revealing the best and worst in humanity.

This pandemic has impacted our lives in many ways. It has led to many unprecedented challenges for almost all the sections of society.

Therefore, we conducted some surveys. Take a look at them-

IMPACT OF COVID-19 LOCKDOWN ON DOCTORS:-

India is at a crucial stage in its fight against coronavirus as fears of community transmissions rise. During this crucial time frontline workers i.e our doctors/nurses/staff are still going out every day to cure the people who are infected with the virus. Healthline workers are working hard for the welfare of the patients and to minimize the damage to the society due to the pandemic. Doctors are doing everything what they can to control the outbreak with constant checks on the patients through phone or video conferencing.
I interacted with a doctor- Dr. Vishakha Behl who works with BLK at Pusa Road as a Senior Resident in the department of Transfusion Medicine. She stated the challenges which the health workers are facing now days to manage this contagious disease. She told me that doctors have to stay away from their families for days so that they can continue to see their patients. The threat of them catching the coronavirus and infecting their own families also looms large, due to which most of the doctors have given up going homes and have shifted to solitary accommodations. Numerous doctors and healthcare workers have been infected with the virus while treating the patients.

IMPACT OF COVID-19 LOCKDOWN ON POLICEMEN :-

When everyone is locked at home, there is someone who is protecting us, punishing those who are not following rules, they are our Police Force. The Policer Force is one who doesn’t even care for themselves. Some 3 million police are trying to ensure that the vast majority of India’s 1.3 billion people stay home. Thousands of police in India have tested positive for the coronavirus in recent days and many of them have lost their lives due to the virus.
I stay in an apartment in Sector 18 Rohini. The block next to my block is a containment zone as there are 6 covid cases. So, there are always two policemen and two policewomen sitting under a tent. In such a hot and humid weather, they have to sit under a fan only, they don’t even have air coolers. I interacted with one of the lady police and asked her the challenges which they are facing now days. She told me that the biggest challenge they have to face is to enforce a lockdown. Another crucial aspect during a pandemic is the conduct of day-to-day policing activities. Crimes don’t stop when a pandemic strikes

IMPACT OF COVID-19 LOCKDOWN ON SHELTER HOMES :-

Shelter homes have faced serious challenges during lockdown. The worst affected are those children who rely entirely on the community around them to protect them. There are approximately 2 crore such children in India who do not have families to care for them and are classified as vulnerable, in need of care and protection.

Doctors and health experts say the homeless children are among the most at risk from the virus as their morbidity rates are higher than the others.
I spoke to people working with shelter homes and discussed the various problems being faced by them. I spoke to Mr. Sanjay Thakur who runs a shelter home “Aradhya Foundation” which focuses on preparing non-school going children for a formal school education.

IMPACT OF COVID-19 LOCKDOWN ON MIGRANT LABOURERS:-

India’s Coronavirus outbreak has shone a spotlight on the hard life of its seasonal migrant workers. The lockdown in India has impacted the livelihoods of a large proportion of the country's nearly 40 million migrant workers.
Millions of migrant workers left jobless by India’s coronavirus lockdown. Countless workers in India have walked thousands of miles home after losing their jobs, many died because of hunger, fatigue and accident along the way.
Migrant workers are the backbone of any metropolitan city. They are the ones constructing houses, cooking food, serving in eateries, delivering takeaways, cutting hair in salons, working in factories, plumbing our homes, delivering newspapers, and list is endless. This lockdown turned these migrant labourers into refugees overnight. Their workplaces were shut, and most employees and contractors who paid them vanished. As many as 80% of labourers have lost their source of livelihood.
I spoke to Mr. Mahesh one of the migrant labourers in my society and around.
