Unsurprisingly,once the Nazis had the military might needed to invade nearby countries, they began to do so. Germany lost large chunks of land after the First World War and it was always Hitler's intention to take that land back. Poland, an ally of Great Britain, was an easy target for Hitler and as a result started the invasion of Poland in 1939; this forced Great Britain to commence war on Germany.

It is a well know fact, that Winston Churchill was one of the greatest war-leaders of the time; he led a country that was on the edge of the defeat to victory. At the outbreak of war, Churchill was in fact not the Prime Minister. Churchill took over from Chamberlain, when he departed in 1940. Soon after, Churchill, who was one of Britains greatest leaders, he sought to inspire the country to keep fighting, even when things were at their hardest. Thankfully, this did not prevent Churchill from providing for his country, he continued to serve until his death on the 24th January, 1965.
