The Outcome of World War 1

World War 2 is often remembered as the most vicious war the world has ever seen but how many people actually perished? Amazingly, World War 2 (1939-1945) took place only a whopping 21 years after World War 1 concluded, which was considered the most violent war until World War II ceased. Devastatingly, it is estimated between 70 and 85 million people lost their lives during World War II and due to the havoc it is too far fetched to give an exact number. It is well acknowledged that Adolf Hitler, the leader of Germany, was furious with the consequences of World War 1. As a foot soldier during World War 1, he witnessed much of the suffering his comrades underwent as a result of the conflict. It is nearly impossible to pin-point one specific event that was the motivation for this war, although may historians agree that there are key factors which are responsible for it commencing.

After World war 1, Germany had only a minuscule amount to be proud of. Catastrophically, many people turned to fascism (right-wing belief) and sought to blame for their hardships on. The Nazis, who were the leading German party, targeted the Jewish beliefs and used propaganda to turn German citizens against them. This caused the Nazis party to grow bigger everyday and eventually become the ruling party in Germany before the outbreak of war.

The Invasion of Poland

Unsurprisingly,once the Nazis had the military might needed to invade nearby countries, they began to do so. Germany lost large chunks of land after the First World War and it was always Hitler's intention to take that land back. Poland, an ally of Great Britain, was an easy target for Hitler and as a result started the invasion of Poland in 1939; this forced Great Britain to commence war on Germany.

At the outbreak of war, Churchill was in fact not the Prime Minister. Churchill took over from Chamberlain, when he departed in 1940. Soon after, Churchill, who was one of Britains greatest leaders, he sought to inspire the country to keep fighting, even when things were at their hardest. Thankfully, this did not prevent Churchill from providing for his country, he continued to serve until his death on the 24th January, 1965.

Many people are aware, that Adolf Hitler was one of the most powerful leaders during world war 2; he was the man who began the war. Shockingly, Hitler was not elected, he rose to the power and the Germans accepted him: he made them feel special and blamed the Jewish people for all of Germany's problems.

Did you know, that when Hitler realised he was losing the war, he killed himself and because he thought he was invincible he shot and poisoned himself?

Some people look back and think we should not be reminded of this treacherous event; others look back and think that it is important we learn not just about the war but also from it, so that it does not happen again.

Conclusion

To conclude, World War 2 ended on the 2nd September 1945, when the Japanese surrendered (the Nazis surrendered in May 1945). The war was vicious and deadly: many people risked their lives and as a result were killed or badly injured.

Some people look back and think we should not be reminded of this treacherous event; others look back and think that it is important we learn not just about the war but also from it, so that it does not happen again.
