WW2: The dangerous days!
Have you ever wondered why this tragic event even took place? WW2 was a global war that changed history, (if Germany had won WW2, the world would not be the same as the place it is today.)
(There were many more places, but these are the main ones)
How did WW2 start?
World War 2 started with 13.6 million Nazi troops in 1939, and by the end of World War 2, they had barely any!
World War 2 lasted 6 years (1939-1945) and over 70 million people were killed! What a tragedy! For many years, Adolf Hitler (the leader of the Nazi party and Germany) had wanted to become all powerful, then declared war. In 1933, Hitler become chancellor of Germany, then 6 years later, he sent over 1 million Nazi troops to invade Poland.
Who was involved?
Between the whole world, many countries had no choice but to fight in the conflict of World War 2.
As both Germany and Britain had foreign territories under their controls, these were influenced by the direction of these two nations: Allies and the Axis.
Axis: Allies:
Germany
China
Italy
Russia (Soviet Union)
Japan
Britain
USA
The Commonwealth of Nations
Adolf Hitler was extremely good at persuading people to do what he wanted. But as we all know, he promised to not invade Poland, after signing a peace contract in 1939. However, he did not stick to his promise: after he signed the contract, he invaded them. Japan and Italy made an alliance with Germany, therefore they made the Axis team. As Germany, Japan and Italy made an alliance all together, they therefore promised not to bomb each other.
France
(There were many more places, but these are the main ones)
War time leaders.
In any war time situation, a nation's leader is very important to guide the country.
Winston Churchill was one of a kind, for he was a great wartime leader: he also helped to motivate every one who had given up hope. During World War 2, Winston Churchill made several speeches and quotes-here are some of his most famous ones, "Never, never, never give up!" Another one is, "We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight....!" Churchill was one of the greatest wartime leaders of the 19th century!

Josef Stalin became leader of Russia (the Soviet Union) after the previous ruler of Russia (Vladimir Lenin) died in 1924. Stalin was sadly responsible for over 20 million deaths of his own people! Stalin hated Hitler, but after Hitler bombed Russia, he had no choice but to fight back more fiercely than ever.
Franklin D Roosevelt, was known for leading the USA. He was a strong and mighty member of the Allied forces. When World War 2 had broken out in Europe, Roosevelt promised his people that they would have nothing to do with the war. However, later on, the USA got bombed by Japan, So Roosevelt had to stick to his own opinion and had to fight back!
The Japanese nation was ruled by Emperor Hirohito. In 1940, Japan made an alliance with Germany and Italy. On December 7th, 1941, Japan were able to bomb the USA, therefore Roosevelt had to declare war. Japan, Italy and Germany were quite successful at the start of World War 2, but little did they know they were not about to be!
If the Allied powers didn't beat the Axis powers, life today would be very different-therefore the world would be unrecognisable!
